Many streets in the Netherlands once looked like those in the UK today. What matters is what happened next. Hoogeveen shows this clearly: a car-dominated main road in 2019, upgraded by 2024 with cycle tracks. Dutch roads are continuously improved to make cycling safer & neighbourhoods more pleasant

Wow. I'm in a webinar about the new road safety strategy, and a guy from the ADI has just said that there is no mandatory requirement for driving instructors to carry out CPD! So they could have been a driving instructor for 30 years and never have done any further learning in that time 😱

I've just skim read the entire Road Safety Strategy and can't see a single thing about pavement parking, which is disappointing.
There's some stuff in there that I welcome, but a lot that is frankly wishy-washy.

Call me old-fashioned, but following evidence-based policy on reducing alcohol limits to reduce "killing off" pedestrians and other road users seems pretty sensible.

It's not actually obligatory to drink booze in a pub, plenty of modern non-alcoholic options.

Also let's improve walking routes!

I don't send huge numbers of Christmas cards but couldn't resist buying these 😊
Some Christmas cards with two designs. One shows Santa riding a bike with presents stacked on the rear rack, whilst a two rabbits and a hedgehog follow him on bikes and scooters. The other design is a snowman family with six children, riding a variety of cargo bikes, tandems and pulling a kiddy trailer. It's very cute.

a senior shiba inu is bundled into a basket on the front of a blue bicycle. the bottom of the basket is wicker, but the top two-thirds is a wide wire mesh. the dog’s fluffy fur pokes through the squares of the wire, giving her back and booty the distinct appearance of a golden honey glazed ham. her front paws stick up over the top edge of the basket, and she’s looking forward toward the next adventure.
