Watching Carol Kaye explain the bass intro to Wichita Lineman feels like Shakespeare walking you through 'Is this a dagger...' or Mozart saying 'I just knew an E-Flat would work' for Sinfonia Concertante.
Incredible.

Fair. Good to have regional differences. Plus I'll bank that knowledge for my next trip to Semple!

Very disappointing. I don't support FF but I have always thought MM was a decent man and I admired his drive to get the smoking ban over the line. He knows what is going here in terms of misinformation and polarisation on climate issues - he spoke directly about it in relation to the tobacco lobby ⬇️
Newspaper clip containing the following phrase: Martin says: “You see all these columns appearing in tabloids. You create this idea of incompetency, madness, nanny state-ism and you seek to undermine the credibility of the proposition"

I can't believe some uncool guy from way back has robbed his stage name from the pawn shop on Parnell St.
Shame on you #JohnnyCash

A very good point. Suddenly decades of minor guilt has lifted!!

Well said David Simon.
Fuck copyright theft.

(I did not understand this when I had a twin-deck cassette recorder in the 80s but you know what live and learn and anyway Jon Bon Jovi had enough money then)

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

Haven't bought a CD in a long while but this was too good to miss. Sensational stuff.

Same around SCR in #Limerick. People who use the area as a rat run must be listened to intently. Me and my daughter trying to cycle to school safely are just 'being difficult'
Oh and 'kids these days spend too much time on their phones/in their rooms' - I wonder why?

The way it works is that people who hate bike lanes and live anywhere are real new Yorkers but people who love bike lanes who live in the neighborhood don't count because reasons.

Try: absolutely nothing, and then go support indie bookstores instead 📚

Six weeks ago, I picked up a year-old tawny owl with a broken leg off the main road near our home and dropped him off at our nearest vet.

After a few days, I received one of the most bizarre phone calls I’ve ever had, asking “So when are you coming to pick up your owl?” 🧵

This is fantastic. And I think the first new album I've bought on cassette since Neil Youngs 'Sleeps With Angels' a thousand centuries ago.

I have huge respect for what Jim Gavin, Brian Cody & John Kiely have achieved with their counties. If any were running for Council in my area I'd think 'there's a good person to have in there' - but not enough for TD and especially not President.
