Please share your best stuff about sex and horror, whether fiction (written, comics, film/TV, music) or nonfiction (articles, blogs, drive-by reckons).
Ideally folk horror, but also interested in Gothic, body, cosmic or any other frightening genre).

Enjoying a new Shudder subscription. Much good wordplay in the titles (It's a Wonderful Knife, Christmas Presence) but some feel like they should be puns, and I'm turning them in my mind and tapping them, but they don't yield anything (Christmas Evil?).

Watched a slice of trans history at @princecharlescinema.com. A lot like an orgy at an art degree show.
My favourite character was spider****boy, which was a surprise, as I have a massive irrational fear of boys.

This free exhibition (central London) on the maps of Ursula Le Guin is small and fascinating. Felt quite tearful seeing the glaciers of Gethen drawn in pencil. www.aaschool.ac.uk/publicprogra...

I'm taking a brief break from asking what other writers were thinking, to instead wonder what I was thinking. Come along, it'll be an amazing day.
Darkness In The Fields is always a fantastic dive into the secretive rituals of folk horror. For the upcoming Midwinter edition, I'll be asking a panel of brilliant Blood In The Bricks contributors about their thoughts on the genre and the inspiritation behind their contributions to the anthology.
Looking forward to my final folk horror event of the year with DARKNESS IN THE FIELDS: MIDWINTER 2, and a great line-up of talent joining us for the weekend on 6th and 7th December! www.eventbrite.com/e/darkness-i... #folkhorror #folklore #writing #writers #fiction

Laptop keyboard has forgotten some of its keys. It's surprisingly easy to go a bit Oulipo, vocab sliding sideways to reroute around the troublesome areas.

Sometimes in a film, one character has such a terrible time that I have to watch a happier film with the same actor.

So TS Eliot and JRR Tolkien both ditched 'gnomes' while drafting their great works?
I suspect a conspiracy of mythical creatures who must not be named. The silencing of the gnomes.
‘Phantasmal gnomes…’
Giving a lecture on the drafts of The Waste Land tomorrow and all the strange and haunting lines that Eliot and Pound decided to cut

These are both just lovely. If you're feeling romantic but not saccharine, snap them up.
So I wrote two books. both are set in London, in winter, in 2021. One is an alternate future history, a sparse love story where a spad and civil servant work on Brexit together and fall unwillingly in love; the other is a sports anime, a post-pandemic f/f romance. here they both are:

Book launch! (Blood launch / brick launch)
A fistful of urban horrors!
My story's about the hope that art will save us, and says: what if it doesn't? What if you get stuck in a horrible mews, with a horrible muse?

Massive thanks to Neil for making it happen, and my co-contributors, who I fear.
It's officially launch day for Blood In The Bricks! It's folk horror, but right here in our towns and cities, written by some of my absolute favourite contemporary writers. Get it now (or They'll pay you a visit).

This code is still working, for a very tasty discount on this monstrous collection!
My story has two queer women separated by the generations (and by resentment, and being self-centred, and a spot of violence).
Also includes talking animals.
Good idea.... if you use code REDFLAGS you can have 75% off the ebook of THE CRAWLING MOON for the next week.

I've been enjoying this book, and its cheerful redistribution of body parts and fluids.
A friend looked up hellebore and found it defined as a 'shade-loving perennial', which he is interpreting as 'non-stop gossip-hound'.

This is excellent but if you've not Golden Raged before, I'd start with the first collection. Then double back for the one with the screaming baby.
GOLDEN RAGE: MOTHER KNOWS BEST is out in comics shops today!!! Waaaaahhhhhhh!!!! Love to the whole Golden Rage team - @laurenknight.bsky.social @sofiedodgson.bsky.social @beccasee.bsky.social @joamettegil.bsky.social @erikaschnatz.bsky.social @imagecomics.com ❤️❤️❤️

If you're returning to the train station from @worldfantasy2025.bsky.social remember to leave extra time because it's uphill, you didn't get enough sleep last night and you're carrying more books than when you arrived.

Remembering Prunella Scales for After Henry, the radio comedy. Three generations of women in one house, getting under each others' feet / in each others' business. It contrasts generational gendered expectations, and now is also a time capsule for those things in the 1980s. Deft and excruciating.
