If a group of people with a shared struggle are asking for freedom and acceptance, it's not more "objective" for people from outside the group to report on them. That's not how social hierarchies work, people outside the group have self interest in maintaining status quo

DOJ continues to argue that the president's judgment under 10 USC 12406 — uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?r... — is "unreviewable," similar to the Alien Enemies Act argument.

No court this year, to my knowledge, has agreed with that argument as to either statute.

Ingrassia then informed her that she would be staying with him, according to five administration officials familiar with the episode. Eventually the woman discovered that Ingrassia had arranged ahead of time to have her hotel room canceled so she would have to stay with him, three of those officials said.

The judge says "the defendants are not entitled to deference" re: what constitutes "rebellion," an aspect of Trump's justification for guard mobilization that the defense counsel had trouble defining.

Perry cites the TRO won against federal agents in Judge Sara Ellis' courtroom this week for 1A and 4A violations, as well as criminal cases recently dismissed against protestors.

These cases "cast significant doubt" on DHS' account of what is happening in Chicago, Perry says.
