Not really. It's the consequence of American racism and misogyny. That others played the tunes on those instruments doesn't change the fact that those were the instruments that led to this situation.
How Trump was elected president for the most powerful nation on Earth - TWICE - will go down in history as one of the truly biggest mysteries.

Which itself could’ve been avoided if more so-called progressives had just voted for the email lady in 2016 instead of bitching about how the DNC supposedly “rigged” the primary against St. Bernard of Vermont (translation: he did poorly among POC, aka the Dems’ main voter base).

I have lately quoted MLK about this: bsky.app/profile/mich...

But maybe people who would not pay attention to King or Du Bois will pay attention when Metzl says the same thing.
The quote:

"the southern aristocracy took the world and gave the poor white man Jim Crow. He gave him Jim Crow. And when his wrinkled stomach cried out for the food that his empty pockets could not provide, he ate Jim Crow, a psychological bird"

This more akin to what MLK Jr referred to when he said "White Moderate"
So there’s an Axios story about how Democratic “powerbrokers” don’t want Kamala Harris to run again but she’s got Black Democrats on lock….and that’s why White films of the so called liberal and leftist variety have been showing their asses on here and other platforms.

MLK was only 39 when he was killed. Growing up, I thought that was old. But I’m 43 now and I’m stunned by the burden he shouldered at such a young age. I’m also a lot more aware of how hard it is, at any age, to carry the hopes and dreams of an oppressed people on your shoulders, as so many do.

Read Letter from Birmingham Jail. Do it often. Be able to quote it so that when people tell you about that dream that has been co-opted and made shallow, you will be able to explain the depths of the actual dream and the work it requires from all of us.

The problem Adam is that Black people would also have better lives too. And we CAN'T HAVE THAT!
If there's one empirical insight I'd want everyone to understand about American politics, it's this:

America's problems are solved problems. Just not here.

What would change if the US simply matched the average of 31 peer democracies? Not Denmark or Norway. Just the middle of the pack. 🧵

The reason why they don’t because they want to cosplay being oppressed instead of working to solve the problem. So forgive me if I don’t believe regressives when they say they gaf about anyone or anything. They do not. They are ghouls.

To add to this, almost all of the U.S.’s problems are linked to its hatred of Black people and that it hates Black people more than it loves anyone else. Our laws and policies are largely based on making sure Black people (and sometimes other groups) don’t benefit even at the expense of others.

When I learned about this (a long time ago) it was eye-opening. Once you understand this, you can see racists and maga for who they are and the question of "why do they vote against their own interest" is answered. So many yt pple don't even know this historical fact. And this was in the 50s.

The good doctor @heymrsbond.com are BRILLIANT communicators that speak truth to power. Unfortunately, those truths get lost on a populace with the reading level of an 11 year old/chronically online 🤡. Which is why I like @kennymack1971.bsky.social
He keeps it 💯 & goes gutter so you don't have to
Thanks for the response! Clarifications:

1. If you think I'm talking about white saviorism, you missed the point.

2. Some folks had nits to pick about Zinn and... OK, I guess?

3. The thread isn't only about DNA and lineage. I'm not a blood descendant of Harriet Tubman, but she IS my ancestor.
Respectfully, I am going to whisper to some of our white comrades a truth that should be more widely known: You definitely have some ancestors to be proud of, ancestors who refused white supremacy, and poured out their lives in many of these struggles over time.

Time to claim your true history.

Since Congress passed a law requiring Trump to release the Epstein Files, Trump has:

- Tried to start a war with NATO over Greenland

- Threatened to use the military to suppress free speech in Minnesota

- Illegally withheld 99% of the files and heavily redacted the ones that were released

Do y'all ever think of how weird it is to want to see people show love and compassion to the people who literally want them dead?

And I don't see defending yourselves against those people as hate. But I find it intriguing that y'all do.
Hate never wins in the long run. Hate burns itself out. It isolates. It self destructs. But love? Love builds. Love protects. Love lasts.

So when will white peoples’ hate for us burn out cause we’re clocking in at about 407 years so far.

Also the notion that love means being a doormat should be studied. Love is letting natural consequences occur and being open to moving forward.
