I really think the US could split up. That will be the end result of Project 2025 and the alliance of Christian extremists, techno authoritarians, and billionaires.

Let me guess, they lament the loss of infrastructure and grand buildings but they're against high-speed rail, trams, solar and wind farms etc.

I think the Nobel committee should have said that Trump is on the candidate list for next year’s prize. This way he would keep ‘focused’ on the peace process for at least another couple of weeks!

I learned many things, including about safe cycle routes and cyclotourism. That's what pushed me to upgrade to gravel! Looking forward to cycling in nature in Italy next week.

Has anything great happened in your life because of social media?

I get the point but can you blame them given the state in which the NHS and social care are?

Authoritarianism is often ridiculous. That's no reason to underestimate it. This authoritarianism comes from a former 'human rights lawyer'.

It's properly unconscionable that the Home Office has created this situation. It should never have been allowed to happen and once it did happen it should have been immediately reversed.

🚨BREAKING: The metropolitan police
arrest a man for carrying a copy of our magazine. This is a threat to both journalism and freedom to protest

I'm blocked too. So much for wanting an open discussion! 😂

see you're delusional? You don't even understand that we've had inequality for a long time. The Gini coefficient is a very poor instrument to measure inequality.
evamontemaggi.bsky.social
Good to know you're one of the racists. Go away!
evamontemaggi.bsky.social
reading propaganda skews one's perception of reality. These people are delusional and racist. That's not thinking.
evamontemaggi.bsky.social
just realised The Critic is a magazine from the Brexit idiots. Of course they don't want to accept that they're fascists. Shame on you! Stop spreading this crap.

there are technological changes that echo those of the widespread reach of newspapers and later the radio. One could go on. The point is that the past is always different but it holds important lessons. So, yes, we should call out contemporary fascism. Call it neo-fascism, if you're squeamish. 4/4

It's the same racism, fear of the other, same nationalism, and crucially a very similar crisis in institutions. UK politicians are in denial. They don't see that their institutions are obsolete and undemocratic. The UK media keep serving the interests of the ultra-rich. Inequality is sky-high 3/n
evamontemaggi.bsky.social
So much so that people seem to believe that countries have some sort of DNA. Even the progressive media is always quick to label as fascist Italy or Germany, but shies away from calling out UK fascism. That's why it's important to draw the parallels, for those at the back of the class! 2/n

A misleading piece. History never repeats itself. The circumstances are always different. The Britain of today is not Britain of 2010, let alone 1930, so what? There are important parallels. Much of the myth around the UK and the US has been articulated around being liberal and fighting tyranny 1/n

Yes and the electoral system is not the only thing that is undemocratic and obsolete (voting in Westminster, blatant corruption that would be illegal in other countries, media reporting…), also the Bank of England needs radical change in policy remit.

There were nearly 45,000 road deaths in the US last year, none from marijuana.

Sean Duffy on marijuana: "To legalize it and to say, 'it's okay for our kids and our young people to smoke it, and it's good for them,' and then they get behind cars -- it's dangerous and it's taking lives ... this is way more dangerous stuff. And then they're lacing it with other materials."

I’d take Sanchez opportunism over Starmer’s xenophobic authoritarianism!

1 million people protested against this government. 1m out of a population of 10m. They have been protesting for years, much earlier than Europeans lefties. Perhaps it’s not enough. You need the courts, the media, the army (!!)… but it’s still incredible.
