Leaving early this morning after a very cold start in the still-dark day, I was overtaken by a memory of sitting on my father’s lap…eating breakfast with him on Sunday mornings…one forkful for me followed by one (or maybe two) forkful(s) for him.

iNaturalist says this is a Pacific Trumpetfish, but I'm not so sure the species. Regardless, it was hiding under a coral ledge on one of my favorite dive sites of the trip, causing a makeshift snoot effect that I really dig!

A close-up of a Tufted Titmouse with his/her tuft blowing in the wind. I love their black eyelashes. The thin black feathers around the break are rictal bristles, which are common in many birds but their size and placement differs between species.
