Hello! This account is all about finding the space to breathe and focus in our hectic teaching lives. It’s these spaces (sometimes only a few nanoseconds long) which allow us to find the most useful response to enable our pupils to learn, progress and self regulate.

I’m a great fan of downloading my brain to a list. Before you go to bed write a list of all your open tabs. Maybe even put post it reminders where they’ll be useful or set a calendar reminder on your phone. Download to let your brain shut down 😊

Good morning welcome to Tippetty tap tap Thursday

Be proud of yourself for showing up today.
Even on the days you don’t feel ready, you’re still trying and that matters more than you know.

Can't quite believe The Last Carry has now hit a thousand likes on here, many of them from people beyond the poetry bubble...
As parents, we're supposed to remember the first time we did stuff with our kids, but the last time is equally as significant, if not more.

This poem is from Whatever You Do, Just Don't (HappenStance Press, 2023), my second full collection...

You may have seen some headlines about welfare spending going up to £406.2bn by 2030/31.
That is correct, it is the OBR figure.

Here is what you may not have seen.
Of the £406.2bn
A) £195.4bn goes to pensioners
B) £13.9bn goes on child benefit.

Facts matter.

Night night sweet dreamies

It’s okay to feel sad and let the feelings sit with you.
They’re real and human.
Even when it feels endless, it won’t be.
Feel what you feel, you won’t stay here forever
I promise

My 7 year old just reached for a piece of pizza fresh out of the oven and exclaimed, in the same tone as an adult swearing…

“English folklore, that’s hot!”

I choked laughing ENGLISH FOLKLORE AS A SWEAR? WHO ARE YOU?!?

I had a fabulous day today at West Moors Middle School, working with groups from Year 5, 6, 7 and 8. We took inspiration from the work of Keith Haring, creating our own 'human pyramid' as part of a teamwork display. 😎
