I’ve either been a short-term or long-term resident or frequent visitor of all these places. When ignorant (not pejorative) people ask me if it was safe/was I scared 🙃etc, I pull up the map in Snap and show them random clips of people living their normal happy lives.

Begging you to talk to every random you know who has been ignoring this - do not trust these people, do not let your kids be on a list, there are no good intentions here. Yeah, it doesn’t. If I (for example) call for a general strike, you can just participate by not doing the thing like, you know, you just stop shopping at Target, etc. No names needed. If that’s too hard to understand, I guess there’s no helping you, or you’re intent on making bad-faith arguments.

There are dozens of community/labor organizations like the AFL-CIO, UFW, ACLU, Indivisible, UFW, IAF, SEIU, BLM, etc. Any combination of those (and other) orgs could join together to create the necessary coalition.

A general strike doesn’t require you to write your name down on a list or stop going to work (which is obviously not viable for many people); it can simply be a concentrated economic noncooperation.
