Pics to illustrate the day. Six dogs ran, I think I’ll always do 1-2 solo closest to the sled to help navigate tight turns. They ran pretty good today, even w/out Blitz and Hub.

Hubble should be back our next run. Blitz is getting his red light therapy started, hoping it helps.

And Denali is home.

Pretty okay with my decision to withdraw from the race this weekend. Windchills would be around -31° Saturday morning, too.

Update from the recovery ward:

Hubble seems to be about 95% back to his usual self. I’m hoping to put him back on the team early next week.

Blitz’s limp seems to have gotten worse since his vet trip, so he’s now on full lockdown. Will be trying red light therapy this weekend. 🤞🏻

“Mushing is abuse” ok then explain this.

Genuinely cannot believe this is my backyard. What a dream.

And yikes, we were slow without my wheel boys. 😅

Hubble looks to be fine, considering he had no limp to check out anymore. He did get a couple staples in a small puncture, so at least it wasn’t a complete waste of time 😆

I withdrew from the Kearney race this weekend, in favor of staying local, nursing our injuries, & avoiding the "feels like" -30ºF temps. It's a bummer, but I want the boys to recover in a warm house. It's also not a Laika-friendly race (spectator heavy start chute), so I'd only have 5 dogs to run.

Abolish ICE.

There’s no reforming it.

There’s no compromise.

There’s only one way to rein in ICE’s terror campaign. Abolish it.

I, unfortunately, couldn’t bring both sore boys in to the vet today, but they moved things around to get Hub in quickly tomorrow.

I think maybe he should’ve been seen first with how he’s been glaring at me, though. 😅🥴

Woke up this morning and Blitz is no longer limping! I still opted to get him seen by our vet. No sign of broken bones or torn ligaments, thank goodness. He’ll get a week off at minimum but he seems to be on the mend!

We have to wait til tomorrow to snag another appt for Hubble, fingers crossed 🤞🏻

Lots of chilling today (somewhat literally as our power went out for a few hours…)

Hubble seems to be almost back to 100%, swelling is down and limp is mostly gone.

Blitz, on the other hand, is still limping/swollen. I’ll be calling our vet first thing tomorrow to get him in. Still comfy on meds.

This shit hits like a sledgehammer right now. It's not even remotely an exaggeration.

Welp. Hubble is now limping, too. When Blitz was panicking, the two of them exchanged teeth, and one landed on his hock. Barely left a mark but it’s a bit swollen.

They’ll both get time off—and hopefully that’s all they’ll need to get better. 😓

I remember a college professor of mine going on a rant about how the world was owned and ruined by “five old white men on yachts”

And I remember thinking, well, it’s probably more that people don’t examine their own actions, it’s not like a couple of people control the world

But you know what

This was a gorgeous run, until it wasn’t.

We have a tricky switchback style turn where I run the sled up and around a tree before we bomb back downhill. We’ve done it hundreds of times.

This time, the gangline bunched up and Blitz stepped in a loop, which then tightened as we went downhill.

I get tired of saying it, but I’ll say it again: the nature of oppression in America is that they workshop it first on Black, Latino, Asian & Native people.

But it is always, in the end, coming for everyone.
The arrests of journalists Don Lemon and Georgia Fort are a test for every MSM member with a platform. If you are not voicing your outrage at this blatant violation of the First Amendment, you are utterly discredited as a journalist.

Giving the team an extra day off to prep for some longer runs Sat & Sun. We’ll be running at home but I’m hoping to boost our miles and get them ready for two day races. Then another mileage bump at the state forest early next week.

We have so much snow and no storms or warmups in sight!
