Seconding this — I just finished watching and it's great. Getting into the meta weeds on animation without sounding like an academic and keeping it understandable is a fine line to balance, and Drew did a great job in this video.

Very good video by Drew (Smiling Friends, Green Eggs and Ham animator).

A deep-dive show ‘n tell about what makes hand-drawn animation special in an accessible way that still respects the viewer’s intelligence, whether versed in animation or not. A rarity.

1. I wish people don't dismiss four-panel, newspaper style strips as "lesser". The medium is just as valid as graphic novels.

2. I hate the mentality that comics must be printed in color in order to sell. Like, you guys do know that most mangas are printed in B&W and they sell like hotcakes, right?

I know this makes me sound like an old fuddy duddy, but making my favorite animation list makes me realize just how much I miss hand drawn animation. The little imperfections, the warmth, the lines squiggling here and there. You could feel the humanity in every frame. Everything looks so clean now.
