Great list! Decades ago, I wanted to see Sylvia Scarlett so badly. I finally obtained a copied VHS version from an international internet stranger in exchange for around $30 and 2 months shipping time. Happy to see that it’s a little more accessible now!

Reading this as it was posted was why I joined ao3. I remember how thrilled I was when a chapter posted on my birthday…then it turned out to be the last proper chapter ever. So grateful for this story’s existence and so angry at how some people don’t know how the back button works.

The Benevolent Society of Ill Mannered Ladies by Alison Goodman

I ❤️’d this one. Regency era romance, 40+yo heroines, great dynamic between characters, lots of adventure and mystery (NOT a cozy mystery). Not really sure why this one isn’t more popular with the book club crowds.

Hoosier Folk Legends by Ronald L Baker.
I used to check this book out from the library all the time when I was a kid since I loved to read anything strange or paranormal. Today, all the stories are quite silly and transparent. Three stars, mainly for the nostalgia.

You’d think, but there’s a huge cemetery in Indianapolis which slopes up to a giant hill looking over the city. You’ll never guess who’s buried at the very peak like some kind of awful royalty.
