I used to object to putting the tree up before Dec. 1 (if it were solely up to me, we'd put it up around Dec. 15 or later). That worked when the kids were little, but now they're all above driving age and don't need my help putting up the tree, and that's why this happened today.

My wife got her first substantial monthly paycheck since the end of August for her substitute teaching work (we've been limping along on one paycheck).
She has an interview next week for a full-time teaching job that would last through June.
