Have a read of Dr Simon Rodway's new article explaining how developments in archaeology, genetics and early inscriptions are helping him to write the first complete dictionary of the ancient Celtic languages of Britain and Ireland.

People experiencing homelessness were given £2,000 with no conditions through the Personal Grants Project. Early findings show the money went on rent deposits, furniture, courses and childcare. We’re proud to be funding this UK-first trial with CHI.

Millions of workers are toiling away from their families over the holidays. So thank the workers who serve you. Appreciate the workers who care for you. Respect the workers who pick up your trash. Salute the workers who get you your mail. Pay all workers a living wage.

Worked on several major infrastructure projects in the 1970s. Watching old Time Teams on C4 on demand at the moment I weep for all the archaeology we smashed through back then, including several burials and what I suspect was a Roman villa on one occasion.

The Labour government has done something really good.

Yup.
The House of Lords fought hard to dilute parts of Labour’s Employment Rights Bill – but the core reforms survived. From sick pay to fire-and-rehire, here's how the landscape is about to change dramatically ⤵️

Something exciting is happening- In support of keeping the Chilterns Heritage & Archaeology Partnership afloat (DEFRA monies only go so far), I have been encouraged to launch a lecture series.

(and yes, I asked Sir Baz sometime ago about basing this on his book, so I haven't just nicked the title😅)

The reason that I try and draw attention to this every year is that the UK government still haven't properly funded the clean up the tips nearly 60yrs later. They've extracted resources from Wales for a couple of centuries, bled it dry and dgaf. It should shock people, everyone should be reminded.
On 21st of October 1966, 116 children and 28 adults were killed in the horrific Aberfan disaster, caused by the failure of the National Coal Board.

Today, we remember those who lost their lives and stand with the community of Aberfan now and always.

Never again.
