Roll up, roll up, as I make the bone-crushing TBR pile DISAPPEAR!

Here is a thread of my mountain of books!
Join me as I read through them & absolutely under no circumstances buy more!

What's first, I hear you ask?
I'll be adding the first book soon, because I'm going to cheat and begin in 2025.
In 2026, I want to get through my TBR.
There are at least 85 books on it! 😅 (I didn't count library or ebooks)

Most are TOMBS rather than quick reads. So far my plan is:
- prioritise borrowed books, review copies & world issues
- read a short book every 3 books
- see if I can audiobook any
Help? 😂
Support indie art.
I'm obsessively trying to keep the price of Stanchion Books and the magazine low to make the chapbooks, novellas, short story collections, and now novels, attainable to as many readers as possible, while still paying authors generous lump sum amounts... 1/2

You want Cottonopolis. And Cacoethes.

I want the rest because I don't have them yet.

And it's nearly Christmas - what makes a better gift than a book?
A pre-festive thread of my favourite Northodox titles plus a couple on my TBR... All of these are 25% off with the code NORTHODOXMAS 🎄📚

If you need festive gifts for people (in addition to books from your local indie publisher/bookshop) then you should definitely buy them badges.

Robin's badges are absolutely stonkingly lovely, amazing quality, and brought me so much joy (even though the one I bought's not even for me!)
On November 17th last year I sold my first enamel pin badge at canopyrobin.etsy.com in an attempt to create a new stream of income that might eventually cover the expenses of trans healthcare instead of perpetual GoFundMes 🏳️‍⚧️

As we approach the anniversary, I'm going to celebrate one design each day

Random reminder that @scattyscribbler.bsky.social has a book called Rivet Boy about the bridge.
I'm on the Forth Rail Bridge *right now*.

I love this bridge so much.

Almost as much as the old road bridge (the new one is fine too, but the old one is better).

Train would be such a nice, civilisaed way to travel if we still had compartments and/or people didn't cough all over you for three hours.

MY BOOK'S NO LONGER BEING PUBLISHED BY NORTHODOX: A Thread.

Some of you might have noticed that over the last few weeks, I've changed my pinned post and my account name.

When The Giants Passed Through - my prize-winning YA novel - is no longer featured on my page. This is why.

"THE FUCKING POINT IS, SUPPORT INDIE PUBLISHING."

Great thread here of some fantastic indie presses to support directly with your dollars this holiday season (and all other seasons).
@shortwavebooks.bsky.social for books across the speculative genres;
@chmmagazine.bsky.social for the best Weird Horror/Sword & Sorcery magazines;
@malarkeybooks.bsky.social who force us all to be smarter & more literary;
I'll never remember everyone.

THE FUCKING POINT IS, SUPPORT INDIE PUBLISHING.

What do people give non-reading* besties for Christmas? All suggestions very welcome.

*Not my story to tell, but it's not a 'just needs the right book' job. It's a 'systemic failure of education' job. We've already done audiobook subs, and comics aren't possible. Thank you for your understanding.

Are you a bookshop, library or festival outside the UK? I have some travel funding available from a Scottish creatives organisation…. Get in touch! This counts for kidlit also 💜🤖✨
Bookshops! Libraries! Festivals! I want to work with you for the paperback of SOME BODY LIKE ME!
It’s publishing in early February, had some fab press reviews for the HB, and makes people leave deranged messages in my inbox. I really want to help my girls find more readers!

Teaching youngest kiddo to sew. He's just made his grandparents and himself a set of matching pillowcases from an old baby sling on a handcrank sewing machine.

I don't do this often, but I'm so proud that in a world of really toxic masculinity that he's still willing with sit down with me and sew.
