I would put it a bit differently: he said that although the US *never* followed the rules, they are no longer acknowledging that there *are* any rules, and thus no one else should either.
The Canadian Prime Minister just got a standing ovation at the world economic forum for basically declaring the US is no longer following the rules and now everyone can just tell their government to behave or fuck off.

I think about this a lot: the fact that it's "inconceivable" is a HUGE part of the problem. Hey folks: conceive of it. That's the necessary first step. This fascism is in fact happening, and the whole "I can't imagine" part is stopping a lot of progress in overcoming it.

Just saw a video of a maybe 10 year old Asian American kid crying because during a soccer match the goalie told him that Trump was gonna get him and deport him and that kid deserves all the love and gifts.
