ICE's training dating back to before this admin:

-disguise their purpose for as long as possible
-lie their way into people's houses
-treat open garages as an invitation inside
-treat REAL IDs as if they aren't real proof of legal status

They're trained to bend the law, not respect rights.
just a little more training bro then ice will be okay, i swear just some more training bro i promise, we can reform this
Apparently ICE goons in multi-car caravans are circling Spanish immersion preschools in the city taunting and photographing the parents and neighbors who are patrolling the school perimeter to keep kids safe.

Been thinking about how the focus on ICE is useful shorthand but underinclusive

The face of these attacks have been people at DHS and CBP, not ICE

And if we don't get rid of the DHS Secretary's power to deputize any federal employees as immigration officers, the agency they work for is irrelevant
Let’s talk about abolishing ICE.

Very few people who say “abolish ICE” mean “abandon all immigration enforcement.” Rather, they mean “the structure of immigration enforcement is irretrievably broken and needs to be reorganized, just like we did 23 years ago when we created ICE.”

This is exactly how we described DHS's policy in our Alabama case against the raids there.

There's no attempt to ID people before they're snatched up.

They just grab anyone who fits the profile and keep them in cuffs at least until they can prove their status, and often much longer.
They don’t know who they’re taking because:
-they don’t talk to them
-they’re random pedestrians

It is literally indistinguishable from a kidnapping when you see it, except there are so many of them, and they are more heavily armed and armored than any kidnapper would ever be.

Letting them lie on background is pretty rich considering how comfortable cabinet officials and their deputies are with just lying on the record.
Zero percent chance this is true.

If you don't think armed government agents should act with impunity, now's as good a time as any to support @ij.org's Project on Immunity & Accountability.

The project exists solely to make sure there's a remedy when the government violates your rights.

Yes, immigration agents not only took Arnoldo's phone, the 10th grader had to use Find My Phone to locate it — in a vending machine for used electronics, close to an ICE detention center.

This amendment would be an easy fix that @ij.org has been pushing for years.

But we also need Congress to eliminate the judge-made loopholes to 1983 like qualified immunity.
It would take a two-word amendment to 42 U.S.C. § 1983 to subject ICE agents and other federal law enforcement officers to the same liability for constitutional violations that local and state officers currently face.

If Congress actually cared about what it's seeing, it could pass that overnight.

We’ve been in touch with a few victims in Minnesota & have a few attorneys heading out there.

If you know anyone who’s been wrongfully detained or assaulted or their 1A amendment rights violated, we’d love to talk to them.

All our services are free & any convos would be confidential.
Any chance Minnesota folks will sue DHS to stop the wild violence wreaked on communities?

In Chicago, Judge Ellis's TRO restricted use of force—like tear gas, pepper-spray, flash bangs–and required visible ID, body cams, and protecting First Amendment Rights of protesters, clergy, and the press.
New: Illinois & Chicago filed a federal lawsuit today against DHS, ICE, Border Patrol, and associated figures like Kristi Noem & Greg Bovino.

The 103-page complaint says the Trump admin, via armed federal agents, is attempting "to coerce Illinois and Chicago to do its bidding through brute force."
