I've just been blocked by someone for being labelled under using "Changed handle" as a label. Problem is, that this is going to become increasingly common as people start using domain names on here to verify, having previously held a bsky.social handle. Please check clearsky.app first.

I love how my immediate response to Discord's controversy is "I should write a new IRCv3 client and bouncer in async Rust"... says something about the state of the world that I want to NIH IRC updates...

As a derivative of this - I now have the mental image of a trans cricket Test match where the evening break is just a bunch of trans people taking their meds on a regular schedule.

The two hardest problems in Computer Science are

1. Human communication
2. Getting people in tech to believe that human communication is important

12 months on since I was signed off until the start of this year for a mental health crisis. I feel like a completely different person vs. back then. I still get flashbacks, but it's easier than it was.

"I am proud of myself" understates things. You should be of yourself too if you're reading this.

I wonder what proportion of gender diverse kids that played Jet Set Radio (Future) in their youth and then became hyperpop fans... Is one just a subset of the other at this point?

With the KDE XOrg announcement I am really feeling like we are entering a universe of "Accessible machine and OS, Affordable hardware, Respect privacy, pick two" universe. I get why but until Talon works on Wayland it's the reality for me.

I have had the first fitting of a tailor-made corset pattern over the weekend! Even in the current state of fit it's so much better wearing dresses without feeling unsupported or bloated. Needs tweaking before the final design so at least one more pattern to do.
Since Trans Joy Tuesday got such a great response last week, let’s do it again.

For the trans people out there, let’s offset all the bad news and share something happy going on with you.

Whether it’s big or small, please share your joy!

I too appreciate a week about the impermanence of gender identity.

My most woke opinion is that too many of life's problems come from a similar common theme where folks in power are jealous of communities they can't influence and choose to deny those communities bodily autonomy instead of actually accepting difference and putting in the work allyship entails.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

First bit of interactivity! Spent the weekend refactoring most of the code from the last two weeks, significantly improving the responsiveness of the keypad hander and simplifying the drivers. Now it’s all integrated with the embedded-graphics crate for consistent color typing.

Semantic versioning is so passé, today I am all about Bubonic Versioning, which is when different software versions spread like the plague for some inexplicable reason without any rhyme or reason, regardless of their CVEs. Going viral if you will.

distributed systems in theory: we run our code across several networked machines so that a failure of one doesn’t break the system as a whole

distributed systems in practice, apparently: hey it’s probably fine to put all our eggs in the us-east-1 basket right?
