Not just pumpkin pie. ALL PIE IS BREAKFAST FOOD - at least in our house. Lol
This got me thinking….how do we as a society normalize pumpkin pie as a breakfast option at restaurants year round? Who will be the change we want to see in the world?
It turns out Mina and I have identical pie takes (literally had home made pumpkin pie for breakfast this morning before kids woke up).

Trees help create healthy neighborhoods by removing pollution from the air, reducing stormwater runoff, reducing heat island impacts, providing wildlife habitat, and promoting mental and physical health by encouraging people to get out and walk in their neighborhoods.
Cities like Paris are showing that urban greening thru street & place transformation is just COMMON SENSE, for cooling cities that are getting hotter due to the #ClimateCrisis, and for reducing emissions, cleaning the air, and improving quality-of-life!

The subtext in JD Vance asking for "patience" on the economy: When leaders stop talking about current conditions and jump straight to rosy forecasts, they’re signaling the present isn’t defensible. That’s your cue to scrutinize the numbers, not just the narrative.

If destroying our life support system were human nature there would be no need to corrupt governments, deny science, and weaken media to keep the fossil fuel industry going.
If war were just human nature, it would not be so deeply long-term traumatizing to participate in war.

If war were just human nature, military training would not amount to psychological torture.

If war were just human nature, there would be no need to pump literal billions into pro-war propaganda.

My latest for @science.org: A remarkable set of high-resolution climate model runs, computed over 900 (!) days of supercomputing time, are revealing how warming-induced changes to Earth's wind patterns due can prime huge spikes in extreme rainfall.

But the MESACLIP runs also do much more than that.
High-resolution climate model forecasts a wet, turbulent future
With details as fine as short-term weather forecasts, model achieves newfound accuracy

$170,000 a minute: Why Saudi Arabia is the biggest blocker of climate action

The desert kingdom depends on oil dollars but its people already face a climate ‘at the verge of livability’. What’s going on?

I did not see WSJ showing up with this much game in 2025.
NYT: “Epstein emails a distraction from the Republican shutdown victory”

WSJ: “We estimate the Epstein files to be 67% Trump by weight”
Incredible piece of data journalism here from @wsj.com.

One of my earliest moments of radicalization was in 2005 when Larry Summers said that women biologically have less aptitude for science than men. Following that, scores of equally unimpressive people wrote pieces trying to explain or justify his remarks, when they should have called for his removal.

Wow. If this can take out Larry Summers as well it will be amazing.
Something absolutely perfect about Larry Summers riffing about the scourge of woke cancel culture being unfair to predatory men in a friendly email to his pal JEFFREY EPSTEIN.

In addition to NY failing to put their corrupt businessmen in jail, Florida also fails and then elects them to public office.
Rick Scott was CEO of a large, for-profit healthcare company called HCA. While Rick Scott was CEO, HCA stole so much money from Medicare they were fined $1.7 Billion.
Rick Scott told me his plan would be to take all of the remaining ACA subsidies and redistribute them to HSA accounts and people can then buy whatever insurance a state certifies. Basically a repeal/replace.
He denied when I asked wouldn’t that create two-tiered system where sick pay much more…

A reminder that product craft involves building tools people want to use that drive business value while NOT inflicting collateral damage elsewhere. Most people forget the last part and thus aren’t true product professionals, they are imposters masquerading as product people.
If you participate in the creation of a chatbot, you are responsible for and accountable to the words coming out of it same as if you were typing them with your own hands.
Panera’s moderately caffeinated lemonade was loosely associated with 2 deaths before it was taken off market.

This article alone has 4 examples of ChatGPT encouraging young people to commit suicide, and OpenAI’s own public stats estimate over a million users discuss suicide with ChatGPT each week.

Right: 'Maryland gerrymandering is an affront to Western civilization!', from today.

That haul vastly exceeds how much the company expects regulators

The New York Times quickly sending out Douthat to argue that Mamdani’s victory doesn’t really matter is so predictable it borders on self-parody.

Remember, folks: Every time the Right wins an election, it’s an undeniable expression of the will of the people. If a lefty wins, it’s just a blip.
