I would guess this is not a failure. Just natural progression.

Likely to be related to source control and it is also a reasonable timeline.

Is it culture positive 5 months later? Or what makes it refractory?

In general, I never found mixed antifungals to be helpful.

This was my experience too. There is a paper out there, where I analyzed the data, wrote the methods, and much of the results, setting the tone for what the story of the paper will be. I then went to another institution, and the paper was published without my knowledge, and without my name.

"The day the paper was published should have been a moment of pride. Instead, it felt like a quiet erasure." #ScienceWorkingLife https://scim.ag/4p3eH5g
An illustration of a man falling out of a piece of paper, with text that says: How an academic betrayal led me to change my authorship practices.

This is such an interesting study. Many times in medicine we feel that something should be a risk factor for death. But it turns out not to be. And often, even when that data is clearly presented, people still continue to not believe it. Negative studies teach us often more than a positive study.

Yes. You will see similarities, but there are more and they have been rewritten.

I wanted to share the preface from our upcoming second edition of our book, The Comprehensive Review of Infectious Disease.

This has been in my head for years. Glad to finally see it in the printed word.
