need to get that bag while they can. Do I wish leagues/countries had retirement structures and social services so players didn't have to? OR, that soccer was big enough here that they could just get paid enough to take care of the second half of their lives? Hell yeah.
futurexskeleton.bsky.social
Absolutely agree that like, IDEALLY, players wouldn't also have to spend their time doing self-promo through this stuff and their play on the field could be enough, but I'm in that "gross this is reality" phase of my journey where like, player careers are short, lives are long, and these folks...

I know there's a globally different perspective re: media access but that's also true of the external financial opportunities afforded soccer players in other leagues across the world. they don't always need to market themselves to their communities the way MLS players do to make those connections.

Would love to hear the @mlspa.bsky.social perspective on this - the "giving players a bigger platform to provide visibility and garner more followers/endorsement opportunities" angle is one I hadn't recognized. At the same time @bradstuver.com is our most popular & most visible player, so it tracks?

Wrote something a little different during the break that I hope MLS PR considers, as national outlets keep decreasing coverage and now AI content is replacing writers. Someone had to say something before media access just gets worse. (Free post) www.patreon.com/posts/141166...

We had to buy replacements because we were out of town in July when this was originally scheduled, so we sold ours! 🤣

100% agreed. I was mostly trying to say "I don't think this is a coach being a total piece of misogynist shit" like he was Claudio Reyna or something 🤣

I understand where you're coming from on this, but your perspective definitely proves his point. If the game was allowed to be SO physical in the Twin Cities (and the rest of the cup run TBH - Desler's high challenge in SJ for example), calling it so differently for the Final is a big departure.

(And for the record, before the match I was *stoked* - Tori Penso is one of my favorite refs in the league, she's so, so good almost every time out. This time I think her performance left a bit to be desired but was absolutely not the reason Austin didn't win this match. Blown chances were.)
futurexskeleton.bsky.social
The fact that he got himself into the mindset in the first place to complain about the refs was disappointing. I don't necessarily think his comment has the connotation you infer here, but absolutely understand the optics that it presents & won't begrudge anyone who takes that away from the answer.
futurexskeleton.bsky.social
The style of reffing we'd seen in the Open Cup up til the Final lent itself to a much more physical type of game played - looking back on the tournament, it's probably a fair statement to say things didn't get called the same way as in league play. (Bukari's yellow vs MNUFC is an example of this.)

Knowing Nico's pressers, I think this is more likely a mis-translation of what he was trying to get at. He's *much* more eloquent in Spanish. If I'm being generous based on his tenure and relationship w/ media in Austin, the point he was trying to (unsuccessfully here) make was...

And distribute evenly amongst the panelists!

As a panelist, the thing I used to fall into the trap of is like, reiterating what another panelist already said because I wanted to be involved. It's ok not to have anything new to add on to an answer, and just wait for the next one to come around!

1) You're gonna crush, you're such a good personality and dude.
2) Panelist and moderator are two TOTES different jobs. Moderator, imo, is old school point guard: distribute, distribute, distribute. Your job as mod is to make your panelists shine - get their names right, engage the crowd...

It’s official: EA is going private.

The leveraged buyout will be financed by a staggering $20 billion of debt, which likely means some *aggressive* cost cutting is ahead for EA in the coming months and years.

Additionally, it's not a problem to blame anyone for or feel guilt about? Like, it's just a thing society needs to have support structures in place for, and appropriate needs-based care guidelines for, and those kids are fucking awesome just like any other kids?
