I’m VERY slowly settling in here. Maybe I’ll hang up my hat and stay for a bit OR maybe I won’t, but for now please know that I’m going to be all over the place topically. Buckle up! (Clifford Brown in the pfp)

This comment nails exactly what Brother Karp (yes, Brother) and Thiel are doing with young people/adults.
IMO this whole eschewing college thing by theil acolytes is really just an attempt at creating a peer group by locking in a consensus ideological perspective at a time when individuals are most malleable.

It has the knock on effect of entrenching group think despite a professed desire 4 disruption

Working on a new piece laying out why we are experiencing a jobless boom.

Research by JP Morgan suggests that AI and related investment in infrastructure accounted for 3/4 of the 1.6% average growth of the first half of the year.
I’m not particularly fond of Coach Gerstner (my nickname for him post-SVB failure and his concern about the local Little League’s funds), but I need to check out this interview. Altman is a curious fellow and very problematic.
ALTMAN gets defensive:

“.. Brad, if you want to sell your shares, I'll find you a buyer. .. There are not many times that I want to be a public company, but .. I would love to tell [OpenAI bears] they could just short the stock, and I would love to see them get burned on that.”

Again a lot of people aren’t old enough to remember when he got taken out to the woodshed over his “Pataki just held Giuliani’s coat during 9/11” blunder but the man is just straight up inept when faced with a hint of adversity or competition
Yes, we see what you’re doing. It’s stupid and dangerous. No need to read bullshit.
Donald Trump has repeatedly floated the idea of serving a third presidential term. Can he? We consider the legal arguments econ.st/4hJPcCM

The first 7 words of the post gives away the game being played, doesn’t it?
I just had a Katie Porter moment with congressional candidate Kat Abughazaleh. The interview lasted 3 minutes.

My take on a contensious rate cut by the Fed. Powell waffles on December cut.

Dissonance within ranks of the Fed getting louder. Not yet deafening but moving in that direction.

Mild bout of stagflation proven easier to forecast than live.

Odd press conference.

Thanks, Diane. It was also very good to hear you on Bloomberg. And congratulations on raising such a thoughtful son! His birthday requests for donations to the local food bank speaks volumes about your family’s values.

Gold caught an overnight bid. Hearing some people are dipping in. Dovish Fed, blah blah.

Here's a chart with price action from the last 10-days.

Classic lower highs, weakening bounce.

Whatever. It's a chart.

A rising stock market is no match for a weakening labor market. 👀
Finally! What a game. It’s fun watching these games as just a fan of the sport. Being a diehard fan of either team must be a hell of an emotional roller coaster.
We’re going to be watching this World Series through the Thanksgiving holiday, aren’t we?

Friends choose your so-called "critics" carefully.

Its not a binary.

If people do circular citations and happen to never cite the women who laid the groundwork for decades and pay the price, there's a problem.
Who the fuck is this dude who rolled in saying what women researchers have been saying for years? He came on my thread here once to tell me I was wrong about something — I wasn’t. I responded, he said nothing, and disappeared. @alexhanna.bsky.social @safiyanoble.bsky.social
Ed Zitron Gets Paid to Love AI. He Also Gets Paid to Hate AI
He’s one of the loudest voices of the AI haters—even as he does PR for AI companies. Either way, Ed Zitron has your attention.

This is a great idea. Seriously. Obama won’t do this specific act, of course, but the point remains the same: more psyops. Be creative!
Honestly at some point you have to start doing psyops with these people:

Have Obama announce that he will seek a third term tomorrow. Then watch all the con law “scholars” and Fix News MELT DOWN trying to explain why he can’t but Trump can. (It’s like Newsom taking over his social media persona)
Q: One theory on how you might try to serve a 3rd term is that you could run at the vice president

TRUMP: Yeah, I'd be allowed to do that. But I would rule that out because it's too cute.

“Walmart was the top employer of SNAP recipients in five states and one of the top four employers in the remaining four states. McDonald’s was among the top five employers of Medicaid enrollees in five of six states and SNAP recipients in eight of nine states.”

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.
