200 years ago a woman named Margaret McDonald was transported to Australia for using and passing on forged bank notes. We found her in some rare documents in the archives. This is her story. #Dundee #Archives
The Female Convict of 1825
We found an interesting series of documents tucked away in the Towns Clerk’s correspondence file of 1825.

Poster with a gradient blue background. Large text reads “the web we’ve built.” Smaller text says “Celebrating 1 trillion web pages archived.” Pixelated 3D icons of a floppy disk, magnifying glass, cursor arrow, computer window, and others radiate outward from a bright starburst in the center. On the right, text lists event details: “Wednesday, October 22, 5–10PM PT. Live stream: 7–8PM PT. 300 Funston Avenue, San Francisco.” The Internet Archive logo appears in the bottom right corner.

Loved seeing this on our Bluesky feed yesterday after we posted about our Blogging and Social Media Prompt for October, #OnePlaceTimelines! Timelines can be great tools for researching, and presenting info about, #FamilyHistory and #OnePlaceStudies.
Blogging and Social Media Prompt, October 2025: #OnePlaceTimelines.
Image: A representation of a timeline, in the form of a line from left to right across the image, with lines extending up and down from it at intervals and joining with circle shapes; instead of dates or years in the circles, there are letters, spelling out the word timelines.

Love this “Curse Against Book Stealers” in the Special Collections room of Dalhousie’s Killam Memorial Library in Halifax, Nova Scotia. 😂
#LibrarySky #Uplift
Printed sign on a wall titled “Curse Against Book Stealers,” describing a curse from the Monastery of San Pedro in Barcelona that threatens severe punishments—including being bitten by serpents, afflicted with disease, gnawed by bookworms, and consumed by the flames of Hell—for anyone who steals a book from the library.

I've just received a reply to an email I sent in June 2017! 😁 The email was to a hotel in Shimla, India, which was built by Charles Harris Barrett a relative of my husband, in the early 1800s. I think they want to use the information on their website! #genealogy

My top tip would be to look for Facebook groups based on a location you’re interested in. Groups like “history of ” or “old photos of ” can be an amazing resource. They’re useful for #OnePlaceStudies as well as #FamilyHistory. I’ve even connected with cousins this way! #AncestryHour

Smile at yourself!
Every time you see a mirror today,
(Maybe drink a lot of water
so it’s often)
Look at yourself and
Smile.
Big smile. Little smile.
Shy smile. Silly smile.
Maybe even laugh.
See how it feels.
Maybe do it
Not just for today.
Every day.
