If you’re lucky enough to learn a language at school, take it. It might take you on exchanges to France, Germany and Spain, a year abroad, student adventures, fun times. You might interpret Albanian in Kosovo, teach Romanian, work with Farsi and Chinese - and discover a whole new life along the way.

Am 11. Oktober 1932 berichtete das Berliner Tageblatt über den Umzug des Bauhaus nach Berlin.
Nach der Gemeindewahl in Dessau 1931 setzte die NSDAP 1932 die Schließung des staatlichen Bauhauses durch. Die private Einrichtung wurde 1933 zur Auflösung gezwungen.

Am 10. Oktober 1942 wurde Carmella Flöck von der Gestapo verhaftet, da sie sich im Widerstand u.a. als Kurierin betätigt hatte.
Zuvor hatte sie als Sekretärin des Landesverbandes der katholischen Arbeitervereine Tirols, nach deren Auflösung im Nationalsozialismus für einen Architekten gearbeitet. 🧵🕰

Am 10. Oktober 1944 wurde der Berliner Karikaturist, Maler und Grafiker Hans Rewald von Theresienstadt nach Auschwitz weitertransportiert, wo er ermordet wurde. Ende der 1930er Jahre hatte er in der Joachim-Friedrich-Straße 20 gewohnt. 🧵🕰🧵

Sie war im fünften Monat schwanger, als sie im KZ Auschwitz ermordet wurde.

Wielandstraße 15 im Stadtteil Charlottenburg von Berlin. Erinnerung an Charlotte Salomon (geb. 1917, gest. 1943 #onthisday), Malerin, hier aufgewachsen, unter den Nazis aus dem deutsch besetzten Frankreich deportiert.

Das Foto zeigt das mehrgeschossige Mietshaus in der Wielandstraße 15 in Berlin-Charlottenburg. Die Fassade des Hauses, die zahlreiche Fenster aufweist, ist sauber und in einem hellen Beige gehalten, vor dem Haus sind mehrere Autos geparkt. Der Blick führt zudem hinweg über die Dächer zweier geparkter Autos und vorbei an einem Baum, der sich vor der Eingangstür des Hauses befindet.

Das Foto zeigt die Gedenktafel zu Ehren von Charlotte Salomon in der Wielandstraße 15 in Berlin-Charlottenburg, darauf die folgende Inschrift:

"IN DIESEM HAUSE LEBTE CHARLOTTE SALOMON VON IHRER GEBURT AM 16. APRIL 1917 BIS ZUR FLUCHT AUS DEUTSCHLAND IM JANUAR 1939 1943 WURDE SIE NACH AUSCHWITZ DEPORTIERT VERGESST SIE NICHT LANDESJUGENDRING BERLIN".

Die Tafel ist an allen vier Bildrändern von der hellen, beigen Fassade des Hauses umgeben.
