Been happening a lot more frequently lately.

I see something, at a good price, but my reluctance/frugality/fiscal uncertainty makes me pause and not buy it right then.

And then go back to get it and

'sold out'

one day I'll learn

(this time it was a film stock I wanted to get more of)

Fingers in the Door
By David Holbrook

Careless for an instant I closed my child’s fingers in the jamb. She held her breath, contorted the whole of her being, foetus-wise against the
Burning fact of the pain. And for a moment

Cleverer than they look, those funny little dudes.
Yesterday it was cows using tools, today its penguins using satellite imagery.

Clear, not clear, clear, slip

Local knuckleheadeds moving snow making the bike commute possible.

There was a LOT of frozen water, I kept traction, and didn't slip like the evidence of someone's studded tires on the frozen water.

Gonna be a cold week of bike commuting. This morning woke up to 20 freedom degrees only to have it drop to 17 freedom degrees AFTER the sun can up.

It didn't clear down to the pavement everywhere, but that one on the right with the fence? Uphill, easiest gear, turbo mode and studded nokian tires, and the resistance stopped me right there.

No action video because it took all my effort and focus to plow.

That's about as far as I got today. Very wet and heavy snow out there.

90 min to drag the plow 3.75 miles one way and back. Battery would have died after 5.5 miles but I eeked out the last handful in ECO mode in the easiest gear. Ouch

But bike path is clearish from Harold to the Veterans Parkway

now shot in monochrome for purely comparison, as an obvious and unnecessary demonstration that sometimes color works better (but i'm not going to desaturate the color photos because reasons)

Raindrop

I brought the tripod out but while camera was steady enough to focus manually (the AF on this lens is rough) the branches started moving too much after this shot.

Snow flakes

I needed more patience, an umbrella and luck to get more of these. Or maybe just to have it actually snowing instead of 1 snowflake to 5 raindrops falling out of the sky.

Ready to go for my first test pull later today. Thanks @gewilli.bsky.social ! Hopefully we can shame them into sending some union guys with benefits to take over for us 😂😭

I have bike work to do.

Went to grab the Stache for this morning ride. HS was a touch loose but the crack has loosened, as in might have fallen off if I had ridden it.

Top Fuel still needs the new tires put on but I went with that. Starting the ride, 'why is the rear lever bite point like that?

My favourite image from 2025 using @ilfordphoto.com Ilford HP5 developed with DDX at box speed.

Taken at the beginning of Spring using my Pentax 17 it is part of a piece of work capturing light in the landscape.

Oh and while I'm posting completely normal shit:

I do really want that Ricoh GR IV monochrome

Really want

But I need that 70-200 and the 24-70 more than I want that. And yeah that's a lot but still cheaper than the Q3m

But STILL WANT IT

Given everything happening right now I should delete the last post. And I might but, I needed to vent to the universe.

I had to watch a Baratza Encore tear down visit at normal speed today, it was excruciating!

Of the two new paywalls that I've encountered one is a, fine whatever, the other is 🤬😡 but not enough to pay for the premium.
The fine whatever: Strava and no year in sport for free accounts.
The 🤬😡: YouTube locking playback speed behind the paywall. People TALK TOO SLOWLY (still not gonna pay)
