i worked at the NYT and one of the grossest tricks they pull is convincing people to take mediocre compensation in exchange for "the mission", pretending they're a smol bean non-profit like propublica or something and not a publicly traded entity controlled by one dynastic family

there are some people who become more convinced LLMs are actually doing something akin to "thinking" the more they use them. i already started at "they're not thinking" and the more i use them the more i'm convinced they're sophisticated autocomplete
