Scottish sovereignty would have to be asserted, as it was in Ireland in 1919. I'm not sure that @johnswinney.bsky.social is there yet! 🤨

But the question of the sovereignty of the people of Scotland has been debated, and contested in the courts, since at leat the 1950s.

Interesting video. The central point - the UK can't continue as is - is correct, and that any other solutions mean England's accepting serious limitations and "being nice".

California voters were considering Proposition 50, which would redistrict the state to add five more Democratic-dominated districts until 2030 to counteract Texas’s unusual mid-cycle redistricting that adds additional Republican-dominated districts.

BBC Scotland refused to report that Labour MSP Foysol Choudhury had been accused of sexual harassment. Why did they censor this out? In the past they have been very comprehensive in reporting alleged behaviour by politicians from other parties. Why the different standard?

An AOC/Mamdani ticket would be a formidable campaigning force. I realise it’s unlikely for many reasons but they have both shown the way in terms of social media engagement, humour and clear-eyed positivity. Fear drives many elections but hope is a powerful counterpoint.
