When I discovered my husband was dating a 15 year old, and I separated from him, I had $17. He took our checking and savings balances.
I had a 1 year old to raise. I got up every morning at 5:30 to do a financial check. When we needed groceries, I made a list, and estimated costs.

Somebody who has to make insecure survival choices every week does actually know the exact price of milk (today) and knows experientially the difference that two percent makes. There's actually more of them than there are those of us in this position, sadly. You're just wrong here.
