now i can't stop thinking about the hypothetical where arsenal get osimhen instead of gyokeres. he could probably even chat to saka in yoruba.
you just can't really guarantee a nigerian guy who thrived in france, italy and turkey would settle off the pitch in *checks notes* somewhere like london, the city with the world's largest nigerian diaspora population

one of the best moves amazon made with their football coverage was hiring gabriel clarke

as a player, alvaro arbeloa was the most un-trent-like right back you could find. fun dynamic there.

this whole article goes into lots of issue-specific polling without acknowledging it's all very low salience and that the republican approach on trans rights isn't exactly a huge winner with voters.

everything in football is a finite resource. there was a bigger and stronger kid somewhere who didn't make it to the top because john stones was better on the ball than him.
i've wondered if this is a big part of why set pieces are such a thing this season. is it just easier to exploit now that goalkeepers and defenders have traded set piece defending skills for being better on the ball? and are we going to see a correction?

been thinking about this a lot

interesting example today: my dad is going through a very tough personal life thing (not my place to talk about it), was saying he needs to stop looking at facebook because it's showing him endless posts about grief. but he didn't know how to turn off iOS app notifications until i showed him.
The major misread, I think, is that governments are treating the harms that can befall children online as like having a glass of wine or learning to drive. But essentially all the harms that can befall children online are more like drinking moonshine or driving at 100pm through a school playground:
Perhaps we should all be banned from social media
Focusing only on under-16s obscures the lack of internet safeguards for everyone else

Only Manchester United have produced more open play expected goals this season than last. The PL is down 23% this season compared to last season.

Hi everyone. As you know, I am our trans rights lead at Good Law Project. I have been working alongside a fantastic team on our challenge since May last year. But whilst what we have achieved is significant - there is still a lot further to go.

If you can, please donate and help us keep fighting.

August-November: yeah we're walking the league hahaha this is easy!

December-February: no, but seriously, the championship is very competitive
The wheels came off the Coventry = Bayern wagon back in December. That's why Boro managed to catch them.

Can it be repaired or will Boro and Ipswich end up as the two automatic promotion teams?

it is very funny that tuchel and ancelotti have both signed new contracts since gary neville said this.

wait a sec, that's john woodcock! a man who resigned from the labour party right as he was being investigated for sexual harrassment, allowing him to claim it was for principled reasons of not liking corbyn. who was then given a peerage by boris johnson for being sufficiently right wing.
Yes, what if we moved the goalposts again so that this abysmal piece of shit, this walking affront to the democratic process, could just jail anyone he wants rid of? Much to think about

realistically spurs just need basic competence between now and the end of the season, then figure out where to go. squad is obviously nowhere near good enough but still way better than 16th.

people often told me it was pointless but then i started making a living from it. who's laughing now.
Not liking spectator sport is one of the best life hacks going. Over a lifetime you'll end up with literally years of time to dedicate to whatever you want, compared to spending it being pointlessly obsessed with other people playing a game

I don't think Jim Ratcliffe's comments become such a public storm without the Prime Minister publicly criticising them.

And I don't think Keir Starmer does that if Morgan McSweeney is still working in Downing Street.
