iirc mastodon users being Like That was one of the main reasons bluesky took off when it did despite mastodon having already existed for years
I’m bridged into Mastodon via @ap.brid.gy and I am honestly not sure why at this point.

i see the 'michael jackson innocent' crowd have convinced themselves the epstein files prove that MJ was rescuing children from epstein's island and taking them to safety at his neverland ranch

You can take your used coffee grounds and mix them with 1/2 cup of white vinegar, it’s cheap & easy and it creates a huge mess that smells terrible

boggles my mind the insane trajectory of the Microsoft Outlook user experience over the last 25 years. all it has to do is manage emails and a calendar but even the simplest tasks are like "RIDDLE ME THIS:" while one thousand clowns burn you with lit cigarettes in a hall of mirrors

i don't know if embarrassing is the word so much as 'dangerous'.

'embarrassing' is how id describe the use of ai generated cover art on a news article.

This is genuinely insane, I clicked to see the years expecting the low part to be 70s or maybe 90s but its 2015!!!!! The entire anti trans panic is a decade old
a stat i always cite is the number of anti-trans articles in the press went from 60 in a year, to 7,500

so I like podcasts, especially podcasts about infrastructure and stuff, but I tried the first couple eps of WTYP and I found it difficult to get past one of the hosts who seemed to be pretending (?) to be an idiot and kept trying to make not very good jokes while the other host carried on talking

The most annoying part about the inevitable AI disaster is that when some AI finally goes rogue and people get killed, everyone will ascribe intentionality to the machine and learn all the wrong lessons.

found a cool little edinburgh-based design business selling prints and things, looked at their 'about us' page and was pleased to see they had a bio of every team member, but I quickly realised every single one followed an identical wording format cos they'd all been written with chatgpt
The default corporate position, emergent in a literal handful of years since ChatGPT burst on the world, is that meaningful communication is a pain in the arse, we'd rather not do it, and dumping it off on a machine is cheap & easy.
This happened to me too. Worked for a company (freelance but regular) for over a decade but they pivoted hard to AI & I refused to use it & stopped working for them (thankfully saw this coming so had other plans). A short while later they let go almost every writer and editor and went all in on AI

an understated example of things getting worse is that every app's gif library is now absolutely rammed full of gifs edited as injokes in discord servers so you have to scroll past dozens with MODS IRL and KEVIN GET PWNED plastered across them
