Would you please be so kind as to add alt text to your images for visually impaired folks? Doing so expands the reach of your skeets while ensuring people with disabilities also have access to important news, and it takes very little time to do it for most images. It’s a win-win.

ICE secretly kidnap autistic boy during bathroom break—never notify parents.

Mother reported him missing a week ago—turns out ICE had him detained the whole time.

He was helping sell fruit and asked to go to the restroom—by the time she was done helping a customer he was gone.

guards ignore—but are trained—that withdrawal is a life threatening condition, and ignoring someone in withdrawal is both deliberate and indifferent

the fact that they were *wrong* about this person’s emergency doesn’t make their conduct any less deliberate or indifferent

“YOU hit HER.”

CHICAGO - Trump’s ICE goons ram into a passing car after snatching someone, then brutally drag the female driver of the car they hit out of her car with guns drawn and arrest her too. (Her brother says she’s a citizen)

Even if someone is having a drug-related reaction, they should still be given medical attention.

18 U.S.C. 111 criminalizes someone who “forcibly assaults, resists, opposes, impedes, intimidates, or interferes.” Standing aside with a camera and asking a detainee for their name isn’t “forcibly” doing anything.

New — Video shared with me shows ICE officers in DC detaining a man on Friday.

Bystander filming asks man for his name. ICE agent lies and says he’s not allowed to speak to him “by law” and another says “We’ve arrested American citizens for being too close…If he gets any closer, put him in cuffs.”

What drives me nuts about this dialogue: diversity and inclusion training was a corporate response to the statutory requirements civil rights laws. None of these laws have been repealed by Congress. Congress can pass the laws under Section 5 of the 14th Amendment, which has also not been repealed.

It's not just about Charlie Kirk. Professors have been targeted over Gaza, courses, conferences, environmental institutes, and student protests.

And it wasn't JUST Trump. Biden played a role, as did state legislators and college administrators.

For the past 4 days, I’ve been silent… not because I wanted to, but because I lost my only voice — the place where I used to speak to the world.

Bondi is lying but it’s worse than that: she’s blurring the line between fact and fiction for the GOP base. If nothing is true, no one can be held accountable. Keep speaking the truth.
The Nine Principles of Propaganda
1. LIE BIG Big lies work better than small because the masses won't believe that anyone would lie "about that."
2. FOCUS Don't make it complicated, ignore history, keep it simple for simple minds.
3. REPEAT People cannot tell the difference between facts and
familiarity. If they hear the same words repeated enough, they become true in their minds.
4. BLAME Never credit the other side, always blame, debase, defame, and dehumanize.
nere by dennis prestosk
5. PROVOKE Outrage, fear, and resentment are more powertul than reason, logic, or facts.
6. CRISIS Issues must be lite or death, good vs evil, love vs hate, us vs them.
Urgency defeats objection.
7. EMOTION A person might question facts, but they will never question their own feelings. Go emotional.
8. PANDER Ignore reasonable arguments, demonize all who disagree as having bad intentions.
9. NO LIMITS Morality is for losers. The victor's morality will not be questioned. No limits.

The midterms will still happen but the Trump cabal is trying to take away mail-in ballots so they can use ICE and the military to intimidate legal voters at the polls, especially in Democratic run cities and states, and drag anyone who’s Black or Brown out of the line so they can’t vote.

The purpose of this app is not to be a "public forum to talk things over". You can tell because people also post cat pics and porn. People come on here for various reasons. Nobody has to talk to you let alone justify anything to you. Especially when you're being a dickhead.

Today is World Homeless Day, and after years reporting on this crisis, I'll just say: homelessness is neither inevitable nor intractable. It's the result of choices—political, economic, moral—that can be unmade.

And this: how we treat the unhoused is a bellwether for the violence we will tolerate.
