Chatham island was still 100% powered by diesel power plant. No longer. No shortage of wind there.
Just 3 turbines are supposed to reduce the energy bills of 20%

Scope for improvement but good start to wean themselves of fossil fuels.

The Point Durham wind farm also makes it possible for the diesel-reliant islands to go green and run entirely on renewable energy.

That's awesome!

We need to talk about #sharing even if it's an uncomfortable conversation. Share may mean higher tax for people who have wealth. Anything else is unfair, we can make progress, not go backwards.

One thing that changed everything: Love yourself!

It solves all, starting with ourselves of course, then people and the planet. Because we are one, when we #LoveOurselves, we love All. Very powerful.
We can change. With love, it will be positive.

There is so much lettuce #inthegarden that I postponed making bread to replace sandwich with salads.

For a week, lunch is half greens, half mix of tomato avo cucumber + one protein (here mixed beans) and light homemade dressing.
Everyday different!
Delicious fun and light nutrition till Christmas.

I found this story heartwarming, tiny forests in Belgium urban environment involving community and schools. I hope the land on which these forests are planted are protected.

I used to organize tree planting events on our school's grounds. Kids LOVED it. #planttrees

Too late for Christmas but still, great NZ hand tools online shop! The hori hori is the best weeding tool ever.

Interesting to learn that copper tools are better than iron ones as they don't disturb earth electromagnetics.

Great news: divesting works!

ASB has decided to divest funds from Motorola Solutions, a company identified by the UN as being involved in activities that help maintain and enable illegal Israeli settlements.
Earlier this year Amnesty International divested from ASB and let people know. #Divest!

We didn't hear that in the news: NZ has badly underperformed at the CERD the international Convention on Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

The section "Main areas of concern and recommendations" has forty-eight paragraphs!
Many about Maori.

#Solar is awesome! Our energy bill is in credit since we have a battery. Saying "it's worth it" doesn't cover the #joy, #resilience, satisfaction of free sun energy, also feeding car and tools.

Home or local battery plants would make us all carbon free.

Nothing to wait for to switch to solar.
Good morning with good news: Cheap batteries transform daytime solar into economic anytime electricity!

Battery prices fell 50% in 2024, compared to 2023, and have dropped again in 2025!

Dispatchable solar with 4-hour battery falls to ~$76/MWh! Wow!

A good analysis of how the NZ government policies benefit some but not workers, families, people, communities, nor the environment of course.

Yet we need to go deeper and see that economy and GDP are not good indicators and growth is an unsustainable irresponsible mantra.
#nzpol Data out today on the economy ahead of the GDP reading next week. It’s a mixed bag – Profits up for firms but not wages. Some sectors are seeing growth, but parts of the private sector are smaller than at the election. This isn’t broad-based growth - we’ve just stopped falling. A 🧵
