You ever just sit down and realize that the rise of 21st century fascism is capital's answer to climate change?

the new Town jerseys are ok (not fond of the colorway) but the warmups look like pajamas.

as religious gigs go, being the Pope's DJ would rank near the top.
He said "Amen" straight into the drop

Lmao Pope Leo threw a rave for an archbishop's 75th birthday this is kind of incredible

TRUMP [after spending 5 minutes with Zohran]: surplus value, it’s a very wonderful thing, very wonderful, and they’re stealing it. Can you believe that?

We’re going to be looking very strongly at the bourgeoisie, what they’re up to

Through a series of sf book memories, I somehow wound up looking at the list of Ace Specials edited by Terry Carr, in two periods.

In the 1st stint, he edited LeGuin, Panshin, Lafferty, Brunner, Russ, Zelazny, Dick, Davidson and more

3rd set included first novels by Gibson, Waldrop, and Kadrey,

I won't go so far as to say this is nonsense, but identifying Clarke and Heinlein in 1969 as "two of the world’s greatest experts on extraplanetary travel" is really a stretch. The actual experts worked at NASA, Boeing, and JPL. Unlike the authors, some people had experience by then.
New, on Heat Death! Thrilled to run this absolute banger from @goldwagnathan.bsky.social, on the bizarre way that concepts from 20th century Golden Age sci-fi have lingered in the scientific imagination, despite never coming within spitting distance of becoming — what's the word? — real

I hate to correct the announcers, but the Warriors aren't in a rock fight - they're in a brick fight.

Nuzzi's fawning coverage of the sociopathic conspiracy crank she was having an affair with aided his rise to political power, which he is using to perpetrate the worst intentional public health catastrophe of our unnecessarily shortened lifetimes, and THAT is the STORY.

Holy shit, just learned about the typewriter art of Montserrat Alberich Escardívol, a Catalan typist. Using an extra wide typewriter and 180 color ribbons, she built up elaborate images from simple characters like 'm' and '.' and ';'. Here is her typewritten painting of the Cathedral of Barcelona.

Yesterday I wrote the below - today Will Richard debuted on the KIA Rookie Ladder.
After 11 games, Will is a. top ws/48 on the team; b. 2nd BPM on the team, and; c. 3rd VORP on the team.

Among all rookies, he's also a. 2nd in WS; b. 5th in ws/48; c. 6th in BPM, and ; d. 2nd in VORP.

He's in line for all-rookie if he keeps this up, and he might get considered for ROY.

need more use cases to overcome the main barrier to purchase:

"I already have a tiny brain I don't use - why do I need more?"
Little bottles of miniature brains.

Watch, hucksters will try to sell little bottles of miniature "brains". "I take brains as pills to increase my mental powers".

This is probably going to be useful research, actually.

Fair warning

If you're doing the "Convincing you to read my novel with the first few sentences." thread, you may also be convincing people to NOT read your novel. As a reader, so far I've had 1 "Sounds pretty good" and 2 "no way in Hell" reactions.
