Mr. @dreadships.bsky.social, have you seen this absolutely epic video of a decommissioned Norwegian frigate being torpedoed?

youtu.be/Ovdnnc-TDbw?...
View from the bow of a Norwegian frigate in the moment a torpedo explodes against the hull. A wall of water is shooting skyward on the starboard side, the ship seems the have been lifted out of the water at the point of impact and is about 20 degrees above parallel with the ocean.

Town and city names.

Ever heard an American say Melbourne?

Anyone from outside the UK say Worcester?

Trust your instincts. Whatever you think is going on, you’re probably right.

Well within your rights to ask for detail over text or whatever form of communication you feel safer with.

I support free speech, but I also think Bluesky should ban anyone that says eating the lower half of a mermaid is not cannibalism

I don’t care if genetically it’s fish flesh not human, in my book it still counts as cannibalism and I expect this platform to uphold that fact

I feel like this photo of masked, armed men pepper spraying a pastor protecting his community is going to be a defining picture of this moment in America for a long, long time.

A couple of years ago, I was commissioned to produce a film in a remote Australian Aboriginal community. I expected that the Government agency commissioned the work would quickly forget it.

Somehow, it’s now on YouTube and has 6,000 views 👀

According to a meme:

1.The samurai were officially abolished in 1867

2.The first ever fax machine, the ''printing telegraph,' was invented in 1843

3.Abraham Lincoln was assassinated at in 1865

Therefore: There was a 22-year period in which a samurai could have sent a fax to Abraham Lincoln.

A favourite little trick here is to respond to Brits complaining about midsummer heat by pulling up my weather app and pointing out that my home town is, right now, warmer than your midsummer heat.

Then remind them that it’s both the middle of the night, and the middle of winter, in Darwin.
gregsmusings.bsky.social
My first winter here was a crash course in terms like “base layer” and “wind chill”. Also learned of the existence, and incredible benefits of, electric hand warmers. 👏

I moved from Darwin, Australia (30+, year round) to the UK. My son was almost immediately picked up in a football “development squad”, on top of his usual club so I’m usually doing two matches every weekend and up to training sessions between.

I can relate. 🥶
