For those of you keeping score at home, the actual cut to the Post newsroom was 45%, not the widely reported one third. Remaining journalists are a bit over 400, down from around 1100 four years ago and 580 when Bezos bought the place.

Ich finde auch, dass er recht hat, und das IOC sich blamiert. Und natürlich ist er in der Ukraine ein Hero. Aber die Vorstellung, er habe sich damit ins globale Gedächtnis eingebrannt, halte ich für unrealistisch.

This is excellent, investigative reporting by the @wsj.com, by the way. Lots of nuggets in there. E.g. Noem not signing off on an order of bulk construction steel for months which meant its cost for the taxpayer went up by $100m.

This is excellent, investigative reporting by the @wsj.com, by the way. Lots of nuggets in there. E.g. Noem not signing off on an order of bulk construction steel for months which meant its cost for the taxpayer went up by $100m.
Ich glaube, er wird schnell vergessen werden, zumal die breitere Öffentlichkeit nicht einmal seinen Namen aussprechen kann. Ich zweifle, dass Leute außerhalb unserer Blase das überhaupt mitbekommen haben.

This framing of 'the EU has never done multiple speed Europe' seems like a product of way too short institutional memory.
Since the 1980s, major EU integration often happened in avantgarde groups, be it the Euro, Schengen, EU Patent, EU Public Prosecutor. The real change is a different one.
