“bsky is boring!”

1) good
2) social media should not be a cornerstone of your everyday entertainment
3) I find new artists to follow every day and look at pretty art endlessly on here when I feel like it
4) get a tactile hobby where you create something with your hands
5) read book
6) walk outside

Crow Country is 50% off in the Steam Winter Sale! 🐦‍⬛❄️

Every copy sold, stream, video, piece of fanart or recommendation to friends or followers helps Adam and me make our next game, and hopefully another after that!

i think if you use genai for anything, even writing an email, you're both a moron and a huge baby, and i dont want to play your video game as a result. its not that hard!
As the backlash to generative AI in video games continues to pick up steam heading into 2026, it'll be fascinating to see what is considered "made with generative AI." Can a dev team say they're not using AI if they're writing design docs with Copilot or using chatGPT to make schedules and budgets?

If you want to communicate your idea to an artist all you need is 30 seconds and the basic ability to grip a pen

it's fascinating to read so many reviews of action games where the writer clearly doesn't consider "learning" or "getting better" to be a type of progress and instead demands in-game rewards for participating at all

dark souls would be a better game if you could grab and throw every enemy like in a bmup. every enemy. even the big ones. let me powerbomb the iron golem. let me suplex the ceaseless discharge

Keep thinking about this term "pre-digested" that Kojima used to describe art that's instantly gratifying. And how it's better when people grow to love something instead.

I've gravitated, as player and designer, toward the latter, but that term "pre-digested" is new and feels very strong.

The games industry brings in 300 billion dollars a year. The guy who made DOOM gets his projects canceled, the guy who made Katamari Damacy is broke, everyone in your feed is begging for a job and there are 50 new games coming out on Steam every day all going towards buying Gabe Newell's next yacht
Keita Takahashi (Katamari, Wattam, Noby Noby Boy) has moved back to Japan, and says he may be forced to quit the games industry due to To a T underperforming.

He also says he'd love to work on Katamari again, and for someone to invest in his studio.

This a bit in The Deep Space Nine Companion where Marvin Rush, Director of Photography, describes being inspired by seeing his wife under specific lighting that lead to a specific shot in the show. He describes himself as a "patient and dedicated observer of the natural world". AI can't have that.

This is not a place of honor. No highly esteemed deed is commemorated here. Nothing valued is here. For a long time I have been opposed to the idea of immersion in video games, to the idea that people become "immersed" in fictional worlds. I believe there is no specific mental state that can be referred to as being "immersed" in a video game or work of media.
