I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this video.
I don’t know how we’ve gotten to the point where men in full balaclavas can abduct daycare teachers while they’re watching children.

So unlike say painting or even music, we don't take in the whole before focusing on details, we take in the details and often don't even need to engage with the whole at all. Take for example sandbox/CAG players -they can construct micro games within a collection of mechanics & never see the big pic

I really think a big part of why games are so hard to talk about with people is because we don't experience them as a coherent whole & many ppl don't want to. Different pieces of gameplay like bosses/levels/interactions are very spatially & temporally detached from one another
