omg, it turns out the "symbols" they were talking about were actually a reference to helldivers 2. insane.

Two law enforcement sources told CNN that agents quickly ran an initial search on one of the markings, including a series of arrows, which analysts initially interpreted to be a connection to the transgender community. That information remains unverified and is still being investigated.

One read, "hey fascist! catch!" with an up arrow symbol, right arrow symbol, and three down arrow symbols.

i think the real, good faith criticism of FIRE is specifically that its college free speech rankings (and deplatforming database) are a complete mess with no real grounding in objective metrics, and yet they reflect a massive percentage of FIRE's contribution to the public discourse. 🧵

How are we meant to take FIRE seriously when its college "free speech" rankings put the actual worst offenders on their own, separate list in order to artificially keep Harvard at the bottom?

Follow-up: why is FSU ranked third best despite their compliance with the "STOP WOKE ACT"?
