Stress eating can go unnoticed by friends and family as well as ourselves at times. Instead of shaming stress eaters I love this way of guiding them away from the chips and ice cream and towards nuts, and easy fruit! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

During finals a lot of the times we reach for easy foods like instant noodles, but I reach for rice bowls and burritos. They're a good way for me to get carbs in for energy and also eat some veggies with my meals. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

It is really easy to discard unwanted food and that is a big privilage, but to reduce waste and save those nutrients freezing foods can be a great way of preserving those foods. Bruised banana? Freeze it then make banana bread! Delish! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
The USDA estimates 30% of the U.S. food supply ends up in the trash. Use it before you lose it! Bruised fruit? Use in a smoothie. Wilted veggies? Toss them in a soup. Leftover meat? Make a casserole. eatgathergo.org/recipe/mix-and-match-skillet-meal/ #FoodWastePreventionWeek

Very true! Mindful eating isn't trully complete until you learn how to slow down in this fast paced world and notice the things around you, almost like those proffessional food tasters. Slowing down noticing the flavors and textures allowing them to sink. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Tom Carrols' approach to weight loss was definetly abnormal, but he showed dedication towards the spicy salad dish which he knew made him feel better. This approach towards a new but healthier format is what saved his life. Honorably sticking to this diet to lose weight. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Nuts are such a great way of getting in a handful (literally) of nutrients and they are incredibly financially efficient as well making them a perfect snack substitution for many people. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

This week learning that 40% of adults in the US are obese is shocking. Proffessionaly I can use this information to inform patients or peers about the rising dangers and make them privy to the challenges that patients may face when being diagnosed. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

One of the barriers is lack of time to plan. I find that if I do not map out my food shopping every month or miss a few ingredients it can really throw off my meal planning and can make me reach for an unhealth alternative. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

A Johns Hoptkins article found that there is no real benefit to taking multivitamins and they pose no greater health outcome for their users. This shows that it may be best to simply consume their vitamins through their food with veggies and fruits. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

This is a perfect example of why Fad diets do not work. Short term work with long term results is just nonsensicle. Putting in a little work day by day gradually building into long term results from that work. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Very true! These diets are extremely difficult especially due to the toll it takes on the bowels. We need more solid foods so we can pass excrement regularly and these juices nutrients are not even fully absorbed most gets peed out at the end of teh day. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
A fad diet that peaked my interest was juice cleanses. This diet involves only consuming fruit or vegetable juices for a specific period. Upon reflection, I believe that partaking in such would be very difficult and would not satisfy my appetite. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

An interesting fad diet is the K (Korean) Diet. Spanning a week. The most extreme being a diet of only ice cubes. These kinds of dangerous diets are very popular and have caused damage to many I wonder why after the damage people still use these diets? @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Swapping the bread is a great idea which can greatly change the calorie or nutrition amount of a meal. Also great idea pairing fiberous fruits with oatmeal they also add delicious flavor which is a plus.
I wasn't always conscious of nutritional density, but I have unknowingly made small, smart swaps. White bread for wheat, cereal in the morning for oatmeal and fruit, and adding fiber, protein & more minerals to my meals. Small swaps= great nutritional boost! #healthyeats😋 @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

This idea is great almost like a pasta salad where you can add a bunch of raw vegetables into the pasta so you are not just eating starch. Also adding zest or juice from a lemon adds great flavor and vitamin C. @beh353.bsky.social#beh353

One of my usual food choices is a sandwich. I can make it more nutrient dense by using veggie sauce (ground up veggetables like spinach and dill) to add just a bit more nutrients to the sandwich. As well as adding a protein (chicken or tofu). @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

My experience with tracking all of the food I eat in a day was a bit taxing as I would finish eating and then remember to mark it down. I was surprised to see that I have a very low liquid intake. But overall I believe I was pretty accurate in marking down my intake. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
