He should learn from liberals that the best way forward is just hugging it out
"I apparently wasn’t done feeling my feelings. I went into the nearest men’s bathroom and sat in a stall until I got myself under control. Nostalgia can be dangerous when it’s up close. I don’t exactly know what I mean by that, but it feels true."

Lovely tribute.

What do you want for xmas? Oh, maybe just a Nicolas Jar-cozy
This is a comfort knit, done just for the fun of it, destined to be a jar cozy for keeping my tea warm.

Ball bands long lost to time, deep stash 75/25 sock yarn.

Colourwork from Selbu Patterns, pattern itself doodled on the fly.

So it’s about as clear as you can make it - US policy under Trump is to feed Europe piecemeal to Russia in return, presumably, for a “spheres of influence“ rapprochement and restored good relations at oligarch level.

It’s a declaration of war on liberal democracy and the egalitarian rule of law.
🚨🚨This is worse than we could have imagined: Full version of #Trump's national #securitystrategy reportedly calls for “pulling Poland away from #EU”. 🧵 notesfrompoland.com/2025/12/10/f...

Click on the post below - an enjoyable exchange follows.

Adam's body of work is one of the most original and important in modern SF.

(Yes I could be said to hold bias, yes I was his editor for a long while, but it's not, as the comments suggest, just me. Honest.)
If this were a case of "I read one novel and ..." I might suggest a too-shallow evidence base. But 4-5 books is a pretty thorough sample. The judgement is in.
I'm tempted, but I've read 4-5 Adam Roberts novels and despite admiring his deep knowledge and ideas, I've found his fiction pretty mediocre at times

One British phrase I've not yet cracked is "fair play". It seems to be applied by a winner to people who are losing, which makes it a kind of humblebrag put-down, but there does seem to be a residual attachment to the actual ethos of playing fairly
