Book shelves pin. This is about a third of my physical. I collect and read SFF, Pulp, Gothic, Weird Fic, Penny Dreadfuls, Adventure, Kaiju and some Horror

I primarily post pictures of book mail, reading progress, action figure collections, trading cards, reviews, video games, RPGs and board games

Very impressive though. I only discovered his works last year through The Sandman and The Nutcracker, both of which I loved

Oh that’s cool, that your copy makes even more unique!

Is that a misprint of E T A Hoffman or a completely different author?

I was introduced to our warehouse today. A monster of a space piled high with crate sized boxes

I asked if they kept the Ark of the Covenant here…

Three confused faces!

I’m familiar with a number of Gemma’s books (bought Itch this week too). I shall look into Neil’s books

I’m normally wary of sequels, but since I’ve only seen the Goldblum film and HMV had the full boxset of 5 ‘The Fly’ films for £13, I succumbed. Plus I wanted to watch the Vincent Price version

I recently read the short story it’s all based on and enjoyed that as well

Well, a quick check online and found all 5 films for £13. So even if some are naff, I get to watch the ones I haven’t seen

I read the short story the films are based on quite recently. Also excellent. I must get round to watching Price’s film tho—only seen the Goldblum version

Well, The Great Orme is just as excellent so you are in good company there

Apart from his main status as a streaming artist, he also had a couple of surprisingly fun wrestling matches in WWE!

It was worth the £3 I spent, but it wasn’t the masterpiece I expected

I’ll be interested to see sequel cleans up the issues, which was also in a sale.
Ori and the will of the wisps

Game completion: 15 Ori and the Blind Forest

Completed! 100% with 44/57 achievements.

Disappointed by this one as a metroidvania sadly. Looked great, story was emotional, but gameplay was too focused on insta deaths and a lack of variation. The escape sequences were the highlight

A great story too, with plenty of early weird

None, but I've bookmarked this to investigate them all

I bought a Lem this week too (Star Diaries). Think I've only read Pirx the Pilot of his stuff before

I have a sci-fi book to finish which I’m enjoying, but the lack of separation between present and flashback thoughts is a little grating.

Then it’s onto some 1920s werewolf horror and translated Chinese horror stories

100% so far in all areas, with all skills, all abilities. Need to finish fire area and the last section and Ori is done
A volcano erupts in the background of a beautiful sunny day as Ori looks on

Not creepy. Not fcking creepy at all..!!

Next week I should get my preorder of The Works of Vermin by Hiron Ennes. Then I might look at whether to start catching up on Conan and Solomon Kane
kdsbooks.bsky.social
2) The escape sequences are unforgiving (like much of the game, some bits rely on insta kills), but as replacements for boss fights they’re actually some of the best sections in the game, with a great soundtrack
kdsbooks.bsky.social
My negative feeling about Ori and the Blind Forest have been quite clear so far, however, occasionally it does something clever and interesting

1) A gravity mechanic. Slightly cumbersome due to some reversing if controls, but it did all work
