Water resources -- computational hydraulics (not the army general)
For about 8 months now, I've been making my own nutrition goo for bike riding. Instead of $1.80+ per ounce, it only costs about 30¢. Easy to make in a blender. Bulk ingredients are available on the web. 🧵 follows 1/?

A 🧵on bike tubeless setup without an air compressor...

Caveat -- not a pro mech, and have only worked with tubeless using 35 mm to 2.4 in tires on MTB and gravel bikes Not sure if this works on fat tires.

We need to make extra snark in the Alt text a bluesky thing. It's like finding an Easter egg in a game (but easier)
The alt text is allowed to be a lot longer than the post, so in addition to describing the image (or including the text) it's great for adding extra snark.

I also have set my account to require alt text.

Biked downstream along the Inn river today. Mostly flat on bike lanes, with typical non-joining sections. Stopped for a hike at Wolfsklamm -- well worth the time...

Gravel biking out of Innsbruck. Map says 7% grade, but road is 14% up and 7% down. Great example of how averages don't tell you much about actual energy costs. But a beautiful day despite the steep grades.

Is it ridiculous that these are the bikes for 2 people for one weekend?

There's a variety of jobs that are subsidized by tax dollars, one of them should be large-appliance repairman. It would be to society's benefit if a washer could be fixed for the cost of parts --- it's almost always the labor cost that sends the washer to the landfill.
Appliance guy says the washer's bearings are failing and it's "not economical to repair", especially in a machine that old. Granted, the washer is twenty years old, but it bugs me the only option is to haul it off to a landfill.

@pathlesspedaled.bsky.social mentioned this concept a couple of weeks ago, and I've been thinking about it a lot. It's helping to put a lot of priorities straight.

I was well past middle age before I realized this truth:
Hey, as a librarian I have to tell you

You don't have to finish a book that doesn't interest you. Life's too short for that. Not your jam? You have my permission to move on to the next book.
