DANIELS: Should the next Democratic president be a little bit more involved with the DOJ than Democrats have been in the past?

We, the people, have to get our boots on and march over these facist oppressors. That’s the only option.

Ricardo's 2006 poster shown here is about the AIDS crisis in Africa, where activists also fought against stigmatization in order to put people's needs first. Get it here: www.rlmartstudio.com/product/how-...
Vertical poster with a cream watercolor background that looks like parchment. Thin hand-written lettering in red, black and green surrounds an illustration shaped like the continent of Africa, depicting a parent in traditional apparel feeding a baby (the parent faces the viewer, with their right arm making up the western part of the continent baby cradled in the center, and parent's dress the southern half). Large text at top: "How to heal a continent of HIV/AIDS." Around the illustration and at bottom: Speak openly - fund mass education - devote global resources - guarantee universal access to condoms - achieve universal access to medicines - support economic renewal - remove the suffocating deb - provide compassionate support to those affected - Put people first!

This week in 1988: 1,000+ ACT UP demonstrators shut down the FDA headquarters, demanding (and eventually winning) action on developing HIV/AIDS treatments. ACT UP's militant and creative actions always included powerful visual artwork, and paved the way for movements in the decades to come.
A photograph from the 1988 ACT UP demonstration outside the FDA. Many people are participating in a die-in on the front steps, holding mock tombstones with messages like "RIP - killed by the FDA" and "Dead from lack of drugs." A line of police officers (some with classic 80s mustaches) wearing riot helmets stands between them and the building; one cop wearing white gloves is walking through the demonstrators. Affixed to the 2nd story windows of the building is a series of posters and a large blank banner reading Silence = Death.

In honor of the white lady that was mad at Black women for having enough sense to prepare for recession and food shortages I bought a new deep freezer today. 🥰

I hope she has the day she deserves.

Pritzker should be held responsible for the police nominally under his control; that being said, this is going to be a problem for every politician you try to sell us on as a savior. Because everyone of them, and many of their supporters, refuses to actually confront what the police are doing.

Pritzker: "If the Constitution means anything -- and I guess we all are questioning that right now -- the Insurrection Act cannot be invoked ... they just want troops on the ground because they want to militarize especially blue cities in blue states."

‼️ CHATTANOOGA - Public school kids outperform voucher kids AGAIN

As @GovBillLee steers more and more taxpayer funds away from public schools to private (mostly Christian) schools for wealthy families who are already there.

Racist Whyte folkx are afraid that everyone not like them, are filled with fear, hate, antagonism and malice- like they are. They fear a retribution that will probably never occur, real or imagined, on a level that they have imposed on everyone not like them.

I think true unity among Black people scares White people. They worry what we’ll do with our power because of the way they’ve abused theirs.

This is such a clever idea on taking kids to museums/galleries
www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...
Nadia from London has an idea that sounds such fun you'll be booking a day out asap.
"I've always loved museums," she says,
"but they can be overwhelming for children. For decades now, I've done something called 'playing postcards'
We do
the museum backwards, visiting the gift shop first. Each child gets to choose three postcards. Then they take it in turns to find that particular artwork in the museum and give us a little information about the piece from the details on the postcard, or from any gallery plaque. At the end of this treasure-hunt-style activity, we vote for our favourite in the cafe."
