i doubt Ai companies can "go green" any more than oil companies can.

the very nature of their business is to strip resources and shoot for impossible exponential financial growth.

nothing about either industry is sustainable. not even for the short term, now.

The only way i see it happening is if someone figures out distributed model training and inference om heterogeous devices.

But the industry has zero incentives to pursue that

AI companies rn are quietly encouraging self censorship and they dont even know it.

Athrú turns to e_ and little q. "does she really know Athrú's secret name?" "tust us." e_ says. "she knows" little q. adds. alt-textra: yes, that was a retcon. 😑 i had something very different planned but realized it was simply not going to work the way i thought. but! i've resolved not to take myself too seriously as honestly i kinda liked this joke better than the part i originally had planned.

A 5-panel comic, the last one from the 2019 Montreal Comic Arts Festival. I'm asking my friend Cab to please take my 6yo daughter to the restroom while I stay at my table. When they both step inside the main festival building, there's someone speaking on a mic, "When referring to fantasy in comics, ..." so Cab tells my daughter "There's a panel going on, let's be quiet!" They walk in in silence but then the panel moderator looks at my kid and just says into the mic "Hey, is that Margot?" so Cab says yes, and my daughter is shocked. Then the entire audience and panelists say hello to her, using her name. When she comes back to the table, she tells me "All your friends know who I am!" And I apologize.

my old doggie has been very sick. i have an appointment for Lap of Love monday but i don't think he's going to even make it through tonight.

he's in his favorite spot under our couch by the heater.

working in this spot today i can't any sign of this mushroom, whatsoever. i suspect it's possible someone foraged it.

i wouldn't. i do weed control here and often have to use round-up.

be careful foraging in urban spots. even abandoned lots have residual chemicals.

just saw this Coprinus comatus a few minutes ago on my trash walk. (landscape gardener starting my morning) it's just above freezing as y'all might see by the frost. i've never seen fresh shaggy manes this late in the season.

"Athrú" begins the older púca cousin of e_ "has never been more sure about anything in Athrú's entire life" 2 of 4 e_ closes their eyes as tears roll down their cheeks, "well then, I, Quing e_ of the Willows" for that is their official title, "bestow the power of the throne to my cousin Athrú of the Sappling" which is Athru's official title and we shall see soon why. "Athrú accepts" he says closing his own eyes. "Hallo!" a voice interrupts from off-panel. 3 of 4 it is Zöe leading the oddest prcoession ever to grace the Púcaí castle! "i present Harvard of the Chalices along with his new squires Magpie & Starling!" likely they met the pair outside the castle and she just decided to make them squires for no good reason. they'll do fine. "hoy!", "haigh!" Starling and Magpie say respectively. 4 of 4 "father?" Athrú says, having not seen his father in goodness knows how long. "but how?" "this one shall explain" Harvard says pointing at Zöe who of course will explain in her fashion. "ye'r darn tootin' i will!" Zöe says doing a silly shuffle of sorts. goodness knows where she picks these things up from. alt-textra: even i don't know what to make of this character, sometimes. she just sort of does things and i feel compelled to draw them out. but i have no doubt she probably saw Magpie and Starling and decided they were squires and no one felt the need to argue.

the hardest lesson i think we learn is learning to let go and say goodbye to the ones we love.

we exist in impermanence and we fight for more life, but then we still say goodbye, and that's okay. but still very hard.
