learned recently that the guy who wrote "The Night Before Christmas," clement clarke moore, also wrote a takedown of thomas jefferson's proto-scientific racism in "Notes on the State of Virginia," basically accusing him and others of making it up to justify slavery. which, that's right.

Oh nooooo, Lindsey Halligan, this is not how any of this works

This shows in so many ways Halligan is unsuited to be United States Dogcatcher, let alone United States Attorney. She writes a reporter whining about reporting but not offering any actionable specific things the reporter got wrong. There's NO WAY that helps anything.

I just voted NO on the Republican funding bill.

Just like the last ten (10!!) times we voted on this exact same bill, it includes absolutely NOTHING to save health care tax credits that millions of Americans rely on.

Rx is so fucked up in the US. List medicine price is $1200, but then the pharmacist happens to find a magic coupon for you, and suddenly it's $25.

Many people are outraged that Trump is demolishing part of the White House. But of course Trump can't do it without help. It's ACECO LLC of Silver Spring MD ("full-service demolition") that is tearing down the People's House. You can call them and let them know how you feel. 1/

If a D is ever elected POTUS, razing the Trump ballroom and restoring the White House to pre-Trump status is non-negotiable.

You have to tear down the physical manifestations of authoritarianism.

That’s right AI is ushering in the wonderful age of human utopia: working 72 hours a week for a pervert
The grind culture that birthed many Big Tech companies from Google to Amazon is back.

As the AI race heats up, startups are promoting hardcore cultures like “996,” or working 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., six days a week.
Why these companies insist on a 72-hour work week
Start-ups are promoting hardcore cultures such as “996,” meaning working from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. six days a week, as they race to compete in AI.

NEW: In Minneapolis, Soren Stevenson lost an eye from a police officer throwing a projectile during the BLM protests. Now he's running for a seat on the city council.

And what's interesting is how he says he intends to keep police violence in the spotlight—and not let it go into backseat.
As Minneapolis Votes, Some Struggle to Keep Police Violence in the Spotlight - Bolts
Five years after George Floyd, the mayor and his allies on city council claim credit for vast improvements, but critics keep pressing the case for more discipline and police alternatives.

"liberals lack a theory of change" is one of the things that gets me every time. like what's the leftist theory of change. how is its track record. what number general strike, seizure of the means of production, workers' revolution are we on.

The article also argues, in a way intended to make you think these designations were widely accepted at the time, that JFK and Obama and Clinton were all moderates.

Buddy, I was alive in 2007 and 2008. In neither the primary nor the GE was Obama regarded as a distinctly moderate figure.

Sophistry.
Do they define what moderate is? No. They consider both Tammy Baldwin and Joe Manchin moderates. Do they define what unpopular issues Democrats need to move away from? Also no.

I would posit that the reason so many people are shocked by the image of the White House being demolished is because it shows that Trump views it 1) entirely as his property and 2) that he doesn't really expect anybody else to live there.

This is fucking wild.

Trump can just divert resources for whatever reason and then claim it's a "drain on resources" in order to call the National Guard.
The majority finds that Trump was justified not just because of the threats (and also says Judge Immergut committed clear error by characterizing protests in September as mostly peaceful), but also because the deployment of FPS officers to Portland was a major drain on resources.

Insane. Tearing down the White House without legal authorization in order to build a palace ballroom for himself. It will of course need to be demolished.

Experts disagreed on whether portions of the facade of the White House were literally being torn down by an excavator. A spokesperson for Just Rip It To Shreds With A Fucking Excavator, a nonpartisan environmental policy think-tank, said that the photographs were “unconvincing Marxist propaganda”.
