It’s not until they find Wei Ying at the Wen supervisory station that Lan Wangji knows for sure that Jiang Wanyin has no idea what Wei Ying has done and how he has started down this dark path because the righteous one is no longer open to him. But he doesn’t seem to care too much, since it allows him the revenge he seeks, and Wei Ying is not open to hearing about how this will ultimately be his ruin, and Lan Wangji finds himself outside the building throwing up white petals speckled with blood as Wen Chao is torn to pieces.

The unseasonably warm Great Tree Moon resulted in a balmy night, and Byleth slept soundly with her window open. Foolish, really. They were at war; rats and spies lurked everywhere. Case in point, a particularly gruesome beast prowled near her dorm tonight. Dimitri sat beneath her window, the cold stone providing little relief from the heat. He rubbed his eyes, fighting the exhaustion that constantly threatened to pull him under, forcing himself to stay alert and listen. The racking coughs that had filled him with such dread were now a comfort in their predictability. Coughing meant that air was forcing its way into her lungs. Coughing meant she was still alive. [But for how long?] Glenn asked. [You did promise to kill her if she got in your way. I did not expect it would be like this, though.] Yes, if she died, it would be his fault, as surely as if he'd wrapped his beastly hands around her neck and squeezed. But she had to realize her feelings were mistaken soon, misplaced pity for a dead man. Although, he had to wonder… why did she cough while sleeping? According to what little he'd found, the phenomenon should only occur when she was consciously thinking about him. Was it the belladonna? His question about her five-year slumber had been a cruel joke, yet another attempt to push her away. But a small part of him wondered if she had actually dreamt of him, if those dreams persisted even now. [Nightmares, more like.] Dimitri grunted in agreement.
