Virtually every institution I engage with regularly—the university, healthcare—is falling to pieces in front of my eyes.

But live music? It continues to deliver everything its social contract has always promised: community, joy, a vision of a better world.

Go to the gig.

speaking from personal experience, a goat basketball player, if a dude, would be spending WAY too much time humping his opponents (and teammates!) up and down the court while snort-lick-yodeling to be the GOAT at basketball, I object. 0/10 😜

If you're a fan of Ann Leckie and/or Arkady Martine (and why wouldn't you be), and/or discussions of empire and imperialism in science fiction, let me point you towards this conversation between the two on that very topic:

Device…hoarding. Because you don’t go get a new one while yours is still fine.

Apparently I am also practicing car hoarding, house hoarding, husband hoarding, dog hoarding, computer hoarding, furniture hoarding and art hoarding.
stupid young people, stop buying a new phone every year if you don't want to be broke. wait no, not like that.

I don't understand why Bob's Red Mill's website formats recipes so badly. I can't print them in a readable way from the recipe page, there is no downloadable pdf, you can't even copy the text because of all the formatting, whyyyyyyy

You can’t mindlessly celebrate Thanksgiving. Or else, what you’re grateful for is the stealing, pillaging, and raping of my people’s homeland for your comfort.

America is grateful it’s never been caught. Never paid a price. Never had to reckon for its genocidal intent & disrespect of Mother Earth.

Additional Tip:

Gmail is being a pissy crybaby and will dump all your promotions and social emails into your inbox, I ended up with 24,000 of them.

Before switching off the setting, go in and clean out your social and promotions tabs because those will go away once you turn off smart features.
If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

clinging to comfort these days so already rereading @kateelliottsff.bsky.social's Witch Roads duology ❤️ high stakes excitement yet they're extremely cozy books that also deal w/ trauma & found family really tenderly. I love how she builds the world by showing rather than explaining it all
