bsky.app/profile/thet... Why, why why why, are perpetrators of violent crime always described as 'just a regular guy' or a 'family man' when they're a white man? Black teenagers murdered by the police are described as 'troublemakers' but if you're a white guy, you get an image boost

bsky.app/profile/zees... As others have pointed out, I fear this is partly the product of Andrew Tate, Elon Musk, Nick Fuentes etc having major platforms and targeting young people (specifically, young men). This kind of poison won't die out with Trump and Bill O'Reilly. It's thriving.

MAGA Zoomers didn't get there by themselves: Meta, YouTube, X pushed them there.

As long as we let the tech companies have unregulated, nontransparent algorithms, as long as they don't give people—and PARENTS—tools to improve their feeds, we're going to breed monsters

That last point is key. There must be a willingness to see how the many changes at board level play out long term. On the other hand, there are a lot of things they could quickly do to help the mood among fans - lower ticket prices, eg.

"So it's like the Olympics but only for ex-British Empire countries, aside from Rwanda because Paul Kagame, and we sort of kept it going because of the Queen and now no one wants to host it so the UK is now paying for Glasgow to do so."

I don’t know how it works at the New York Times, but my editors at The Guardian would never let me publish this if they knew that I was one of the elites who spent time with Epstein. And if I published it without telling them, I would be out of a job.

again thinking of when The Free Press ran an article alleging that George Floyd was not killed by the cops, and @radleybalko.bsky.social proved beyond any question that the article was bullshit, and instead of retracting it Weiss asked him to come on her podcast
CNN has a show with a similar line. That the problem with this country is we just aren’t talking to each other.

Not really sure what line-up to expect on Saturday. Gray has started the last 3 games and we've had a free week this week so I expect to see him again, would love to see a midfield of Gray, Bergvall and Xavi. Even if they make mistakes, I can forgive that bc they're v young still. A start for Tel?

I met Melissa Hortman in October of 2024. She was smart and kind. I heard about her murder in a LA hotel room and it dropped me to my knees. So I went to Minnesota and talked to her kids, parents, and friends. This is not true crime, this is Melissa in real life. www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

Because this has gotten so much traction I must also specify—the issue is not that men CAN’T clean. The issue is domestic labor is STILL overwhelmingly performed by women. It’s not a question of ability. It’s how this work is actually divvied up and how people think it should be divvied up.

With regards to less sex and actual loneliness, women are experiencing these things, too. Women may be more likely to have friends than men, but women are still getting lonelier. Women struggle with dating. The newer male struggle is expecting but not having someone to do your laundry for you

My sense is that the “male loneliness crisis” is not really about addressing men’s emotional needs but rather the relatively newfound absence of having someone to perform domestic labor for you quietly in the background now that there is a longer gap between your mother and your wife doing it
