Loved this idea, pointed out by @doublepivotpodcast.bsky.social:

The PL teams probably look better than they are in the CL because they all had relatively easy CL schedules.

But they had relatively easy CL schedules because they couldn't be drawn against other PL teams.

If this comparative ranking holds up, we’re basically playing against a relegation side today.

What could go wrong?
This is @rwohan.bsky.social’s table, replacing PL teams with the non PL teams they’re ranked most closely to on PitchRank, as of Jan.7.

This is excellent so far.

"...this new model [...] creates an awkward, weekly situation: a coach who's been more successful than any of his bosses has to sit in front of the media and answer questions about a bunch of decisions that he didn't make."

Great piece

The discussion in this thread typifies some of my favorite things about COYSky: interesting opinions, smart analysis, and folks building on each other’s ideas.

Spurs may be shit, but our fanbase can be wonderful.
I have a good feeling about both Frankfurt away and City at home. We are going good in Europe and Frankfurt have nothing to play for. City, although they were good against Wolves this weekend, have major flaws. They lost 3-1 to Bodo/Glimt and it could've been 4/5-0 tbh. Plus we live in Pep's head

Quick part on Spurs in this smart video.

Son, Maddison, and Kulusevski were 3 of our top 4 in shot creating actions and overall usage.

I also like the point about “gravity”: players look better with better players around them.

My only things left to hope for this season are Spurs staying in the Premier League and Arsenal not winning it.

This is what it looks like when non-violence is *working.*

You willingly experience violence because in committing violence the regime delegitimizes itself in the eyes of people who had previously supported it.

FT 2-2. Some exciting moments, but bad result for Spurs. Not a good performance either. No-one can score apart from Romero and Van de Ven. Conceded two bad goals. Being this bad is not sustainable.

So far:

(2) Almost Goals for Spurs (opening play and that near miss)

vs.

(1) Almost Goal for Burnley (barely offside ruling out the penalty)
I am once again calling for the invention of some metric like "Almost Goals" that better lines up to "how close each team got to scoring".

Marginal offside ruling out a goal? Almost a Goal!
Hitting the post off a low % shot? Almost a Goal!
Whiffing from point blank? Almost a Goal!
The 11th Premier League game of the season that we have finished the game with less than 1xG.

From the previous 10 we have won just 1 of them (0.6 xG vs Leeds).

3 points today, but as we've already seen these performances are not sustainable to get results.
