It took some time to finally publish this program for the KIM-1 and today is a good day for it. Udo Juerss is the author.

cott Lombard started many years ago on a replica of the Jolt. Quite a challenge, since only photos are known of the Jolt.

He succeeded in finishing a working replica

He also made RAM and ROM cards, and made a Tiny Basic Enhancement package,

I put together an electronics kit + book intended as a gentle introduction to transistors and early computer logic gates (resistor-transistor logic or RTL).

I set up a Tindie store page for the little over a dozen I have readied. (I'll create a web site soon.)

The KIM-1 Simulator has seen some small updates, to version 1.5.4 Fresh version at retro.hansotten.nl/6502-sbc/kim...
The behaviour of the TTY/LED keypad switch is now closer to how the real KIM-1 behaves.

KIM-1 Rev D building progress.
All passive components acquired and soldered on.
Keyboard assembled, will be connected via low profile pin connector.
Next step is testing power distribution to all IC sockets.
Then the Reset and NMI circuits with the 556 timer.

How to build a KIM uno on your own?
Order the PCBs from pcbway, order all electronic parts from Aliexpress, program the Arduino, solder everything together, print the case. ( I ordered parts for some more builds - christmas is nigh) #kim1 #kim-1 #65o2

Another revision of my observations on KIM-1 revisions changes.
The keyboard changed from Rev B to Rev D, requiring new holes in the PCB and so some traces had to move. Note the change in style of the PCB layout, not curved but straighter lines.

First KIM-1 50 years! Now I am building a KIM-1 myself! Rev E reference, the BOM is excellent!
I am not aiming for an exact replica, I want to test things with it, so IC sockets.

KIM-1, were IC sockets used?

Before I saw the last revision, Rev G, I had never seen an original KIM-1 with IC sockets. All ICs were soldered right into the PCB.

Now I have a KIM-1 Rev G an photo of Dick Dral with white IC sockets.

So the last iteration of the KIM-1 did have IC sockets.
